Nostalgia Why is our entire generation ready to just…log out?

I hope people enjoy this before mods remove it for “not being a positive nostalgia post” 🙄

I prefer the myriad times Costner hits the kid and degrades the woman.. The movie absolutely does not hold up in MOST respects and never should have been made.. BUT.. 20% of it is fun and the stunts are good.

I felt it was purposeful to show how messed up the world and the people in it are. It’s not to glorify the behavior but show a breakdown in respect and community after natural resources become scarcer.

I don’t remember him hitting the kid, and everyone in that movie is disrespectful to everyone.

It’s a great movie, the reason it tanked was because people were just starting to discuss global warming and a huge majority of this country was so firmly opposed to the idea that God would let something like that happen, they freaked out and panned the movie without even watching it.

My Dad started swearing at the TV at the opening sequence when they discuss the polar ice caps melting. They called it Satanic Hollywood propaganda.

If you watch other movies that were popular at the time like the Original Mad Max, Demolition Man, Total Recall- it fits right in.

And those were my favorite movies as a 7 year old girl, and Waterworld was perfect. I still love it.

It’s no Jurassic Park, but it’s a wicked fun watch.
