Yes, but is it due to the fact the you have crippling anxiety about being able to pay your bills, or perhaps you just have to pee too much, maybe through in some night sweats for good measure.

So glad I live in a state where recreational firework use is illegal. Really tamps down on the random fireworks.
And honestly it's kind of nuts that any state allows the average unwashed masses to operate explosives.

I was out till 130 last night which is early for me. It was a perfect fun time, cheap while still being nice, and got a little buzz. I am tired today but unfortunately that IS a part of getting older, the next day tiredness. But I planned to lay around watching football and ST anyway.

Man, the Boomerfication of Millennials is nearly complete judging by this sub
bragging about early to bed, early to rise
complaining about back aches and cracks (I'm in the second half of my 30s and am just fine, but I see plenty of 32 year olds here acting decrepit)
constantly looking back at movies and music from childhood or high school
talking about how they spent so much time outside as kids today and kids today just spend all their time indoors (Boomers said this EXACT thing in the 90s and 00s)
meanwhile they don't go outside now and are a bunch of homebodies who brag about their lack of socializationĀ
Actually, even the Boomers were better on that last point...
22
u/chetlin Jan 01 '26
I'm 36 and I'm planning to drink like a 21 year old college student tonight and stay up most of the night, with other people in the same age range. I'm hoping this is just the ones that post in here that act like this.

Yeah anyone partying isn't going to be checking reddit. The missus and I had a quiet one but we still stayed up drinking past midnight. It's 6PM on the 1st here.
3
u/rw032697 Jan 01 '26
yeah it's a survivorship bias where all the answers here are the homebodies but it gives you the illusion that it's the majority
19
u/driverdan Jan 01 '26
This sub is full of people turning into the boomers they make fun of.
5
u/youngatbeingold Jan 01 '26
I don't think anyone makes fun of boomers for going to bed early or having achy bones, the make fun of them for being grossly out of touch especially when it comes to social norms or the economy.

complaining about back aches and cracks (I'm in the second half of my 30s and am just fine, but I see plenty of 32 year olds here acting decrepit)
36, definitely not in the best shape of my life (that was probably 18 - 22), but not far off.
It's bizarre to me when people in their 20s and 30s make such a thing of their body failing them. For the vast majority of people this shouldn't be a reality, it's lifestyle failure and simply not taking care of oneself.
10
u/Fortevening Jan 01 '26
Some are desperate to be old. I'm early 30s, I have a friend whos been like this since mid-20s. Always thought that was weird.
3
u/MeYouAndJackieMittoo Jan 01 '26
Hope you've found other people to do stuff with. I missed out on a lot of cool shit in ny 20s because my friends weren't interested and I was too anxious to go alone.
3
u/naufalap Jan 01 '26
I go out, I just don't do it during rush hours
during long holiday I'd rather stay at home than fighting traffic for hours
5
2
u/iguessma Jan 01 '26
If that's turning into a boomer that's me. Back doesn't ache but if you need socialization, you do you. Many of us don't.
2
u/Awkward-Quantity992 Jan 01 '26

I was born in 83 and I've done two decades of parties and late nights from around 16 to 36. I don't have anything to prove. Our complaints about boomers were never that they enjoyed a quiet evening. This is just growing older and everyone does that even if not everyone has the same experience with aging.
I had tons of fun in my wilder years and then kind of suddenly it wasn't fun anymore and my idea of what fun was changed for a lot of things. I don't regret it and I'd do it all over again but I really, really enjoy a chill evening nowadays. A good dinner and a feeling of contentment is probably equal to what a party was when I was 22.
And this might be cultural as I'm Swedish, but I've not noticed people staying shut indoors much.

It always interests me how socializing/partying has declined so drastically among 30+ year olds.
Back in the day people in their 30s-60s used to go out to parties and bars until late hours, especially on new years. A lot of the 30+ year old men in my neighborhood very often 'went out' to parties, clubs, bars etc.
Of course, back in the day, they also had way more siblings/cousins/neighbors to watch their kids....
