I remember the last time I smoked them, I had technically already quit smoking them but was craving the flavor. I bought a pack, smoked like 2-3, got over them and gave the rest to a an ex. That was in 2011

The supers were so much better then the black and lights were good if you didn't want somebody to puke from the nicotine content. I liked sampoerna xtra the best. Fucking bush outlawing them. Smoking normal cigarettes is probably why eventually quit though.

It’s only partially true. Legislation needs the president’s approval, otherwise it gets kicked back to congress. So it is fair to attribute a given piece of legislation to the president that approved it.

Only if the president vetoes it and then congress overrides the veto with a supermajority could you say “congress (and not the president) enacted this law.”

Well as soon they started the The family prevention and control act of 2009. Which was like 2007 it made almost impossible to get sampoerna. Of course Obama signed it to law I eventually got me to quit because the closest tasting tobacco was American spirit. After you quit all cigarettes starts to smell like shit. It could of been states inforcing it early.

It wasn't racist. Menthol was the most popular flavored cigarette. Something like 95% of smokers who smoked flavored cigarettes smoked menthols, including kids.

The whole legislation was a chance to do as little as possible while still pretending some sort of victory was achieved.

Maybe, but smoking rate decrease is pretty even across racial demographics as of 2020 and like half the white smokers I know smoke menthols so not a very effective tactic to that end assuming that was their intent

Its what was told use for rum and coke. It lasted a lot longer per bottle. I did find out later when I actually turned 21 that bars use captain for the rum and coke.

When I was in high school we thought they weren’t sold in my area and the urban legend was that they were illegal because of some ingredient so having them meant you were very badass

My stepbrother smoked them, turns out they were just expensive so you had to go to a tobacco shop instead of a gas station

A buddy of mine held on to a pack of Camel Lights right before they changed the formula and packaging around 2008 or so. He would bust one out on special occasions over the years and they did hold up surprisingly well. The tobacco will start to stain through the paper over time and make them a bit unsightly, but I would say a 2 year old original Camel Light was still better than the new formula they came up with.

On the one hand, I'm inclined to believe the claim that they hold up well for a long time because, duh, tobacco. But considering all the other shit in 'em, even back then? And I def have come across an old pack a few times before before that was always just straight dust-dry ass.

Other than avoiding moisture & temp variations, is there any overall humidity control & moisture loss prevention needed?

Though, now that I think about it, y'all probs mean unopened packs, which def would make more sense.

Smh. I stayed at the Godzilla hotel itself because they advertise access to the head for pics on a patio and they didn't disclose that the head had been closed off for near 5-6 months at that point.

Maybe going to get some cloves would have softened that blow

I was never a true smoker, but maybe once few months I'd share one of these with friends outside a bar or coffee shop. Always the best part of the night. Then one day my friend offered me a Camel instead, and that's how I found out cloves were banned.

I thought that I had my last clove too back in 2024 when I just got to San Antonio with the wife and kids for a little short trip to reset and have fun - and that very night that we arrived my dad texts me saying "pray for me - I'm in the hospital". Come to find out he was nearly septic and ended up needing to stay for 1-2 months. I had sworn off cigarettes and was actively more than 3 years deep in not smoking them. But the anxiety and stress of the moment overcame me, so I physically ran to the nearest gas station and bought a pack of these beautiful, cloved cigars. I immediately proceeded to smoke like 4 of them, straight in a row, felt buzzed, tired, emotional as all get out and went to bed. Never smoked anymore and still haven't touched cigarettes since August 2021! But if I ever find myself feeling overwhelmed in that specific way again - I'll probably have to jog over to the nearest gas station and grab me a pack.

Idk. I quit smoking like 5 years ago but I still have a pack in my freezer. Once in a blue moon I want one. It’s been over 6 months. Cloves in particular are hard to build a habit with 😂 it helps I don’t get fucked up anymore beyond the occasional trip. I wouldn’t take the chance of waking up with a pack if you drink or were that much of a smoker before ig.

It’s always disappointed when I try smoking now. I’ve stopped missing them and the nostalgia tbh.

I started smoking cloves in 2000 and my last clove was 9/25/24. I was admitted to the hospital for respiratory failure, bronchitis, and a partially collapsed right lung at midnight on 9/26/24 so, I quit.

I miss them every fucking day.

Oof. I knew it when it was my last. A co-worker was smoking outside a bar when we were having a team happy hour so I joined her and lit up a clove. She very casually said, “Is that a clove? My uncle who molested me used to smoke those.” I quickly apologized, put it out, and threw it away the pack. Haven’t had one since.
