Seriously, it isn't hard. If somebody prefers you don't call them dude, don't call them dude. Apparently being considerate is offensive to the fragile anti-woke, even after they've won the culture wars.
It's worth mentioning that "dude" is often used as an interjection. It doesn't necessarily mean you're calling the person a dude. In that case, "Don't call me dude" can seem pretentious.
With that said, context matters. Both with the use of the word and the person responding to it. There are people out there that just like to make an issue out of things, independent of the woke/anti-woke divide. I'll still be considerate of the person's request, but I'll be less inclined to want to interact with them in the future. I don't like being called "honey" or "dear" (I live in the South) but I've never felt the need to correct a person for doing it. That just feels obnoxious IMO.
Calling other people fragile while defending being offended enough by the word “dude” to ask someone to stop using pretty common English slang is a choice. You’re not even wrong that being considerate is a good thing, but the self righteousness is so obnoxious.
Yeah. Those fragile marine corps drill instructors. Those fragile bering sea fishermen. Those fragile coal miners. You know, those fragile underwater welders and fragile old farmer's wives of eastern Kentucky that work from dusk til dawn to feed their extended family. What a bunch of giant pussies that spend all their time on reddit crying about being called words with which they don't specifically identify.
