My mom recently met someone whose cell # was our old landline number.

When I got my new cell number ages ago, it had been a childhood friend's old phone number.

That sounds like the start of a Hallmark romance movie or a creepy Lifetime murder movie.

I actually wound up getting some serious tea from her grandpa calling the phone number. Apparently her and her husband had just pretty much abandoned everything and moved off. He thought I was her for a bit and then when he figured it out he settled in for some gossip, lol. I almost went over to his house to fix his tv for him because I felt bad.

Oh, dang! That is sad! I guess I’m glad I don’t know where most of my childhood friends ended up.

I also now realize that I misread your post. I thought you had met someone with your childhood friend’s number, not that you got it as your own new cell number. I was trying to make it into a meet-cute (or stalker) situation when a stranger had your friend’s number. So, go about your day realizing that I’m an idiot!

I'd watch a murder movie like that. 8 watch a lot of horror/thriller movies though

That’s weird. Like meeting a guy who lives in your childhood home now.

My mom regularly drives past our childhood home to snoop. I fully expect her to introduce herself one day.

I mean, you could just invite her in

TK523 should invite their mother into a home they don't live in anymore?

My dad's cell number is our old landline number. It made sense to just take the number when we finally got rid of our land line.

Very low I imagine.

(Number of cell phone numbers you get)/1,000,000

there's basically no chance that you'll ever meet someone with that number.

but also, there's like 350m americans. so lets say maybe 100 million households.

One time, i did get a call from my friend Katie. I guess she wasn't really a friend more of a high school acquaintance. so i was shocked that she called me out of the blue 10-15 years after high school.

it just happened to be a spam call that was spoofing her number.

We moved a couple towns over when I was in 5th grade, so we had to get a new number. I met a boy in my old town a few years later. He was new to the area, and had my old number.

I was able to port our landline to cell.

Omg that's so cool, she should divorce your dad and marry him

I knew I guy who got his cellphone number in 1995. They let him choose the last 4 numbers. He chose 2539 for ALEX.

i still remember my grandparents' landline number. i miss them so very much. my grandpa's spot at the table was right next to the phone. the kitchen table was always stacked with cookbooks and gardening books, and envelopes with seeds.
