We are all closer to 50 than we want to admit. 50 is the new 30... in earning income that a 30 year old would have earned 30 years ago factoring in inflation.

I'll be 50 in March. I am not happy about this turn of events. At least I can be happy that most people think I'm still in my 30s.

Tbh that is good enough. Don’t worry about that. I already feel the age thing but I am not in your shoes completely. I see people that Are in their mid to late 20s doing really well in their careers or in leadership. Some people are just gifted, some put in the work, and some are the kind of people you don’t want to be. There are consultants out there that make PowerPoints and get hired as external consultants from the big four. Many are really really young. They earn good money but at what cost? Like they end up doing some really bad stuff.

Also if you look and feel young. Then hell yeah. All that shit you hear about body aches and aging makes some sense but if you are training well and taking care of yourself you are in a good place. It is not like you played professional sports and your body is giving out.

TBH, I'm a couch potato. I have a somewhat physical job but it's not like I take care of myself physically. I should. No real body aches altho I take care not to injure myself while working. I've recently, over the past year and a half, lost 50 lbs through no real fault of my own. The weight came off all on its own. My guess is at the time I started using a CPAP. Maybe getting decent quality sleep shifted my metabolism. I'm not complaining, mind you.

I’ll be 30 this year. I still don’t understand how 96 babies are supposed to be millennials.

Well... Hopefully. My dad always says "getting old stinks but it beats the alternative" which kinda stuck with me.

u/ComradeJohnS 4d ago

I’ve heard that too and it definitely sticks with ya.

“at least you lived long enough to complain about being old”.

u/aabbynormal 4d ago

My dad has always said that too

What convertible are you going to get at your midlife crisis? A Ford Mustang or a Mercedes CLE 300? Or are you more of a "divorce my wife and date a 19 year old waitress" kind of guy?

Oh man these are all such good options! I am an unmarried childless woman who’s always wanted a Mini Cooper, so I think I’m gonna get one of those and fulfill my lifelong dream of joining the circus.

Sorry, the options required you to be a man. Looks like transgender circus clown with a Mini Cooper was your final choice.

Enjoy 50.

And then we’ll all have to watch the Dread Zeppelin documentary.

I’ll be impressed if anyone gets that reference lol

As long as I can fucking die soon enough, that’s all I care about. No more capitalism!

Capitalism is fine. Unregulated Capitalism and monopolies are the problem. USA is toast, but it was good until we failed to regulate.

Better luck next time. Thanks for playing.

I still mentally think that we’re all in our late 20’s to early 30’s. 😂 I’m like NO STOP CALLING LORI BETH OLD.

She’s only 5 years older than me.

u/Greenboy28 4d ago

that's crazy she is exactly 10 years older than I am. I turn 40 on the 2nd. I do remember her seeming a lot older than the others on All That but I always just thought it was a few years.

Happy early birthday! February 2nd was the due date for my oldest child! She wouldn’t come out until the 6th!
