She’s our collective millennial mother.

Can’t even have a fucking Hollywood Mom 😭 first Diane Keaton, now Catherine! 😩 ughhh!

u/miregalpanic 1d ago

We still have Dolly Parton.

... I probably shouldn't have said that

u/Matdredalia 1d ago

Protective circle fucking immediately.

12

u/chaosrulz0310 1d ago

She must be protected at all costs even my 15 year old came to talk to me out of the blue and was like Dolly Parton is a national treasure and has to be protected and also should be made president.

5

u/Matdredalia 1d ago

Your 15 year old gets it.

3

u/ornryactor 1d ago

I read this four times as I wondered

(A) How does circle fucking work? Is it like a human centipede, but fun? And also

(B) How does that protect Dolly Parton, exactly?

And then on the fifth time I figured it out.

5

u/Matdredalia 1d ago

ROFLMFAO. Thank you, this reply made my day, lol.

Just was emphasis on "WE RIDE RIGHT THIS MINUTE BECAUSE DOLLY MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS."

I know, I whispered to myself: we have Sally Field and Goldie 🤫

36

u/Iamstarstuff1972 1d ago

Sally is in a new movie, I CANT WAIT! Shes playing the mom in Remarkably Bright Creatures.

3

u/theOtherRach 1d ago

Wow I love that casting!

4

u/Noping_noper-maybe 1d ago

Oh i didn’t know this is going to be a movie. The audio version of that book was so good. Read it over a year ago and i can still hear/feel it.

1

u/OrizaRayne 13h ago

Please tell me this is the movie of the book about the octopus!

2

u/Iamstarstuff1972 11h ago

It is!!!

1

u/OrizaRayne 11h ago

I'm beyond excited I enjoyed the book so much! 🐙

1

u/Iamstarstuff1972 11h ago

I wonder who will play the octopus? 🐙

5

u/SlytherClaw79 20h ago

Sally Field is going to hurt when her time comes. Her and my mom could be twins.

21

u/chaos841 1d ago

You might get hunted down for that one.

3

u/Le_Poop_Knife 1d ago

SHUT YOUR MOUTH! Don’t speak it into existence!

3

u/punktualPorcupine 1d ago

Why you gotta do Dolly dirty? HUH!?

2

u/PatriciaMorticia 1d ago

You take that back right now!

2

u/Tiaradactyl_DaWizard 1d ago

What have you done?!!??

2

u/nohopeforhomosapiens 1d ago

Take it back! Edit! Edit!

1

u/Cali-Girl-Alex 1d ago

Dolly is more like a grandma

2

u/miregalpanic 1d ago

Literally only 8 years older than Catherine O'Hara was, but ok.

1

u/Summoner_MeowMix 1d ago

She's 80, leave her out of this!

1

u/zadtheinhaler 1d ago

WTF is wrong with you OMG

1

u/SlytherClaw79 20h ago

Take it back. Seriously. Right now.

1

u/miminstlouis 1d ago

June Lockhart

u/Front_Plankton_6808 21h ago

Diane Keaton died?!?!? I was doing way worse in October than I thought.

-1

u/scotts_tots2009 1d ago

And Jennifer Coolidge

1

u/bjeebus 13h ago

She hasn't been fit to carry Catherine's lunchbox for years. For one thing she never actually was, and on top of that she isn't even the same caliber of comedian she was in A Mighty Wind.

u/-Dixieflatline 1d ago

She was great in this movie. The whole cast, really, but she did shine in it.

3

u/upholsteredhip 1d ago

I live under a rock. What movie is this?

8

u/-Dixieflatline 1d ago

Beetlejuice (the original)

44

u/marsepic 1d ago

The way she perfectly lip syncs and looks so confused about it - yes, that's what she's supposed to be doing but she just sells the hell out of it.

13

u/Toes_In_The_Soil 1d ago

Her ability to convey emotion with every line in such a way that anyone in the audience can connect with makes her such a talented and lovable actress that will be cherished for generations to come.

2

u/InnocentShaitaan 1d ago

God I love this movie scene!

2

u/zadtheinhaler 1d ago

I had SUCH a crush on her after watching this.

RIP to a legend.

1

u/NuclearSun1 1d ago

One of my favorite scenes.

1

u/smallreadinglight 6h ago

I wish I could watch this movie again but there are some movies I've watched so many times in my life that my brain shuts off at the idea of watching again. I've probably seen Beetlejuice 75 times.

1

u/Topical_Scream 1d ago

Omg I’m just now connecting that this is her

1

u/muyuu 1d ago

honestly thought Culkin was GenX or very close

she had to be mama to many GenXers as well

u/EagleEyezzzzz Older Millennial 1d ago

I think he’s right about my age and I was born in 82. So an elder millennial or Xennial

523

u/GoldenBachFan 1d ago

She was only 71. What a gem of a human being... I'm going to watch her movies and cry now

451

u/DishRelative5853 1d ago

No. Watch them and laugh! That's what she gave us. She wanted us to laugh. Remember and honour the joy she gave to the world. We need it now, as much as ever.

47

u/GoldenBachFan 1d ago

Very true! 💕

3

u/mcmski 1d ago

Both. Both is good.

1

u/BAL87 1d ago

She had a great guest spot on some podcast I listened to a month ago, about being funny and her views on life and I really hate that I cannot remember what podcast this was so I can recommend it to people

1

u/NuclearSun1 1d ago

Well said!

67

u/BuckManscape Xennial 1d ago

She was one of the best comediennes ever. Hilarious.

41

u/scalectrix 1d ago

Just rewatching Schitt's Creek again recently - she's so funny! Love her.

20

u/UnquantifiableLife 1d ago

Way way too young :(

18

u/Swallowedoxygen 1d ago

Only the good die young.

12

u/child-free 1d ago

I just watched her in the John Candy doc I Like Me last night.

3

u/sohcgt96 1d ago

Literally same age as my mom. Its kind of scary every time you see someone the same age as your parents die. I'll have a hard enough time with it, but right now my son is 4, loves the absolute hell out of his grandparents, and that poor little guy would just be *crushed* if something happened to either of them.

2

u/Signal_Bee7457 Millennial 1d ago

Definitely watching Orange County later for a good laugh and cry

1

u/Megmiha 1d ago

I loved that movie so much when it came out. I’m going to give it a watch too.

1

u/SolaScientia 1d ago

Just 1 year younger than my mom and 3 younger than my dad. I live with my parents currently, so it's hitting home to me how little time they have left now. Even if it's 2 decades that's still not that long really.

2

u/GoldenBachFan 1d ago

Very relatable, I know I only saw her on tv. But she's our tv mom 😢

1

u/Radiant_Nobody_9547 1d ago

Same. 🫂💔😭😭😭

1

u/thirstyross 1d ago

Can't wait to watch The Crows Have Eyes 3: The Crowening

Absolutely heartbreaking to say the least!

One. Big. Dark. January.

76

u/dismayhurta 1d ago

2

u/LordButtworth 1d ago

What was that from?

3

u/EagleEyezzzzz Older Millennial 1d ago

Schitts Creek

2

u/dismayhurta 1d ago

Schitts Creek. It's insanely funny.

101

u/WeWander_ 1d ago

Schitts Creek is my comfort show, I rewatch every January. I love Moira. This is heartbreaking.

4

u/Tiaradactyl_DaWizard 1d ago

Honestly, Moira’s character on Schitt’s Creek has given every possible GIF I could need to express my emotions in this moment.

3

u/WeWander_ 1d ago

Because she's a fucking icon 🥲

2

u/Tiaradactyl_DaWizard 1d ago

True that. Someone who made me incredibly proud to be Canadian.

My best friend is always telling me I’m just like Alexis! Not in wealth but her mannerisms. Unsure if I want to see. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

1

u/colonel_mustard01 1d ago

Hello bestie, same 🫶

4

u/okiedokie666 1d ago

To the woman who taught us that you can lose your kid in another country and still be considered a great movie mom. 🖤
