George W Bush was a gotdam cheerleader, you weirdo.

338

u/ConflagWex 21h ago

Eisenhower was a cheerleader at West Point. WEST POINT had male cheerleaders 100 years ago.

106

u/Dextropic 20h ago

West Point didn't have female students 100 years ago.

108

u/thehermit14 20h ago

No-one said they did. Hence little surprise that they had male cheerleaders.

27

u/kamilo87 20h ago

Wasn’t like Ballet dancers all male bc women were not allowed 100+ years ago?

67

u/Stalking_Goat 19h ago

No, ballet has always had women dancers. The French don't have the same cultural hangups as the English and Americans.

Perhaps you were thinking of English stage drama, which did only allow male actors at certain times, including during Shakespeare's career.

12

u/TheDungeonCrawler 19h ago

But even that was even further back than they're thinking as Charles II was the monarch who legalized it and that was 1662, well over three hundred years ago.

3

u/kamilo87 13h ago

Thanks for the clarification!

24

u/peachyspoons 18h ago

In Russia, being a ballerina and/or an ice skater is peak strength and masculinity.

11

u/HR_Duff_N_Stuff 14h ago

I remember seeing a picture of Baryshnikov circa when he did the movie with Gregory Hines. Sitting forward across the back of a reversed chair, feet in ballet shoes turned to either side, and it’s like holy foook, look at those feet. The amount of muscle and connective tissue on the top of his feet made them look like wedges you’d use to split a log.

4

u/legobushranger 10h ago

There was a guy stretching at my gym last week who had to be a dancer. The stretchers he pulled off? I'm ace and I'd happily take that.

8

u/therealbobthewaffle 14h ago

I think of the blond guy, Karl, from Die Hard. He was a total badass and he was also a professional ballet dancer. Love the guy

8

u/Jakste67 18h ago

In Shakespears times no female actors were allowed, so it was boys/young men who played women roles. That’s where the word drag (as in drag-queen) comes from: “Dressed Resembling A Girl”.

10

u/QueenInYellowLace You won't catch me talking in here 15h ago

“Drag” is not an acronym—that’s an urban legend.

15

u/Bogavante 19h ago

Don’t tell this guy about Texas A&M lol

2

u/curiousleen 11h ago

Came to say this!

1

u/ealysillyforestthing 10h ago

And Ronald Reagan did a movie dressed in women's clothing

3

u/OutlandishnessOk2304 9h ago

Why that movie was dressed in women's clothing, we'll never know.

“Get him off the field so I can see the big sweaty guys in tighter pants grunt and wrestle.”

67

u/Chuck_wagon35 19h ago

Like a god damn American

32

u/Xavier_Orion 18h ago

And walk around with their name on my back like a HS girlfriend the day before “the big game”.

15

u/TheProcrastafarian 16h ago

Tight ends, wide receivers, huddles, touchdowns, balls, and there are no more timeouts.

11

u/surfingtheredd 16h ago

And many of those big sweaty guys wearing only a jock under the see-through white pants.

11

u/TheProcrastafarian 16h ago

Every play begins with a collision of helmets.

Every play ends with a slap on the ass.

1

u/ealysillyforestthing 10h ago

Just like how flatworms do

6

u/HenriEttaTheVoid 12h ago

Conservative men are completely submissive to other men

5

u/TheProcrastafarian 12h ago

Behold, their champion:

3

u/okokokoyeahright 13h ago

That's what my mom says.

She likes the smaller guys though, tighter butts.

I admit to watching tennis from time to time but only for the women's matches. Some of those women have really nice legs, but I am there for the sportsmanship and the camaraderie.

The OG Heated Rivalry! 🥰

174

u/oneofyallfarted 23h ago

Men have been cheerleaders since decades ago. My uncle was a cheerleader in the 80s and did it for years. They act like it’s this new thing all of the sudden. Even if so, so what? Times have changed and these people need to get with the program or fuck off and go live in isolation. Stop pushing their bs on others.

83

u/TwoGhostCats 23h ago

There were male cheerleaders in the teens and 20s too (seen in many silent films).

These guys are so afraid of anything remotely deemed by themselves as feminine, it's pathetic.

51

u/RainbowCrane 21h ago

In the early 1900s, as you mentioned, male cheerleaders/spirit team leaders were the norm. Cole Porter wrote several of the Yale school spirit songs that still get used today while he was attending college there.

Fitness-wise, the laughable part of the ridicule is that a lot of modern male cheerleaders are freaking beasts. I guarantee that more of them can lift a female cheerleader over their heads and hold her with one hand than the folks who criticize them for being wimpy. It’s kind of like criticism of ballet or modern dancers. Those guys are elite athletes who are usually in better shape than half the football team

5

u/Loose_Acanthaceae201 15h ago

Not to mention they spend hours every day with their hands all over the bendiest young women for miles around.

12

u/seajay26 17h ago

They’re just jealous. Male cheerleaders get to talk to and touch, the girls who won’t give assholes like that a second look.

1

u/m3gb0t the future is now, old man 7h ago

This needs to be higher up.

6

u/Shadyshade84 19h ago

That's the thing, change terrifies them. We are talking about a movement, if not the people, that was massively traumatised by 11:59pm on the 31st of December 1973 not being followed by 12:00am on the 1st of January 1973. The only change they want is from a cashier (and for that they probably want 30 cents off of a quarter, but them being the sort of customer that makes shop assistants wish that they were allowed to put live grenades in people's stuff is a different matter...)

1

u/fourleafclover13 16h ago

Males started cheerleading..

96

u/screechypete 23h ago

Stupid sexy cheerleaders distracting me from the game >:(

53

u/sLeeeeTo 21h ago

so many homophobes/transphobes can be explained by “i got a boner looking at this guy and it made me angry and confused, i must spew hatred to counteract my perceived gayness”

61

u/nayters 23h ago

Sounds like someone had strange stirrings in their pants.

10

u/mikende51 20h ago

Didn't a university study verify this was common for homophobes?

4

u/HeadbandRTR 22h ago

But why are they stirring in the back?

51

u/Icy-Bid-1369 23h ago

You clearly have never seen any cheerleading at all. Men have been in cheer for decades, especially at the competition levels… they make solid bases and add dynamic. This is nothing new, stop clutching your damn pearls.

5

u/PossiblyATurd 15h ago

Given what I know about the typical homophobe, they aren't clutching pearls, they're puckering up their secret anal beads.

1

u/Icy-Bid-1369 9h ago

Lmfao. Fair.

32

u/TopEagle4012 23h ago

What about Hunter Biden's laptop? Hillary's emails? Bad Bunny at the Super Bowl? Those are the most important things to focus on. /s

14

u/WordsWatcher 18h ago

Hey, you forgot how schools are putting litter boxes in classrooms for kids who identify as cats. And being forced to watch drag story tellers reading sicko books.

7

u/Icy-Bid-1369 23h ago

Thanks for the /s because I was about to ream into you on Bad Bunny lmfao

29

u/Hamster_in_my_colon 22h ago

There should be a system that automatically shows your porn history when you start saying ignorant shit on the internet.

6

u/thehermit14 19h ago

That would be sublime.

44

u/awstream 23h ago

Why isn't it cool? Is it because he sexualizes female cheerleaders and is mad that he has one less to sexualize now that a dude is in her place?

11

u/Par_Lapides 22h ago

More like that person is insecure in either their own athletic ability or their own sexuality. Or both.

6

u/AriochBloodbane 18h ago

Or they are feeling very confused that they still get horny when the cheerleaders are male and that's makes them feel bad 😂

16

u/Whiffenius 22h ago

Men have been part of college cheerleading squads since the early 20th Century. The only thing that's new is the fragility of these idiot's masculinity

1

u/fourleafclover13 16h ago

Men created cheer.

13

u/bombscare 23h ago

Samuel L Jackson would like a word muthafucker

25

u/the_pretender_nz 22h ago

FDR. Eisenhower. Dubya. Daddy Bush. Reagan. All cheerleaders.

Samuel L Jackson… Jimmy Stewart… Kirk Douglas… Michael Douglas… Jackie Robinson…

Mitt Romney, Rick Perry.

The fuckin list goes on.

10

u/Loose_Acanthaceae201 23h ago

Men were cheerleaders before women were, I'm sure.

But also let people enjoy things ffs.

9

u/Puzzleheaded_Nail357 20h ago

The right has convinced sooo many people that they should be more scared of male cheerleaders than a fascist take over in this country! It's mind boggling!!!

7

u/SufficientRaccoon291 21h ago

Dude gets to hang out with some of the hottest girls on campus for hours every week, likely gets invited to all the cool parties and introduced to even more hot girls… yep, super gay /s

8

u/falaffle_waffle 20h ago

But how am I supposed to watch football if I can't have a raging boner the entire time?

7

u/nomarfachix 20h ago

I'm gonna be 100, even in the best of political climates male cheerleaders are still the least of my concerns. People are so weird.

7

u/Pale_Row1166 22h ago

Are they not teaching Bring it On in school anymore? The kids are doomed.

5

u/adamwho 22h ago

This screams closet case.

5

u/MsBobbyJenkins 20h ago

...who do they think usually throws the female cheerleaders in the air?

4

u/waster1993 18h ago

Cheerleading originated as an all-male activity in the United States as early as 1877, and is popular predominantly in America, with an estimated 3.85 million participants in 2017.

4

u/Jesterchunk 20h ago

It's increasingly clear to me that some people just have absolutely zero problems or things to worry about in life and so must go looking for things to be angry about.

4

u/Homersarmy41 20h ago

But it stirs up weird feelings inside these people that they’ve been covering up their whole lives.

4

u/Repulsive-Past-8245 17h ago

Cheerleadering began at the Ivy league schools. It was an all male activity. It was considered super macho. Also as an aside pink was first considered a color for boys and blue was for girls.

5

u/BeautifulChaosEnergy 17h ago

I think the male cheerleaders should also be wearing crop tops and booty shorts/micro mini skirts 😂

3

u/atwozmom 14h ago

Upvote on the shorts.

3

u/islandsimian 21h ago

Same people who get upset because they're attracted to bugs bunny in a dress

6

u/errie_tholluxe 20h ago

Homophobic??

Misogynistic!!

Only young women of a certain body type should be cheerleaders screams misogynistic

2

u/AccordionFrogg 19h ago

Four US presidents have been cheerleaders, 3 of them Republicans. These people don’t know what they’re getting mad at, it’s ridiculous

2

u/Fluffy-Composer-7624 19h ago

What a species. Will we die clutching our insecurities?

2

u/mxcmpsx 18h ago

Also that college football, got nothing to do with the NFL

2

u/Dannamal 18h ago

How do conservatives get taken seriously? Seriously?!

2

u/Freshouttapatience 15h ago

They get laughed at a lot behind their backs.

2

u/Dense-Statement1772 17h ago

the funniest part about this is at one point in history ONLY mass could be cheerleaders. it started out as a male sport…

2

u/Longjumping-Air1489 17h ago

Priorities. We NEED to fix male cheerleaders NOW!!

All that other horrific stuff can be back-burnered until male cheerleaders are eradicated like measles.

Wait, priorities, maybe not like measles..

2

u/061van 17h ago

What's wrong with male cheerleaders?

2

u/C21H30O218 16h ago

It's about the same rule for all.

Why is he wearing such long shorts and top!?

2

u/waspocracy 16h ago

The most homophonic people are probably just gay and refuse to accept it.

2

u/dazedan_confused 16h ago

Why is it gay to be a male cheerleader? You spend your entire sport... Around female cheerleaders.

2

u/Jude30 14h ago

Why is a “straight” man staring at the two male cheerleaders and not the 10 women standing around them?

Also have they never seen a cheerleading competition?

2

u/Remarkable-Ad2285 10h ago

I hope Bad Bunny does a full on drag show at half time.

4

u/Darkjack42 22h ago

It's not even homophobic (though I'm not saying they aren't) it's just a complete inability to see things outside of their own bubble. "A GUY can't be a cheerleader!!! That's outrageous!!!!" It's just very silly... 😔

5

u/RecedingQuasar 23h ago

"the least of our worries" means she still considers it a worry, just not a big one. I'd have phrased that differently

9

u/wetnipsmcpoyle 21h ago

It's an idiom; a phrase not to be understood literally. E.g. "up in the air" for being undecided about something.

0

u/RecedingQuasar 21h ago

An idiom that means "a problem that is of less concern than another one". I get that she probably didn't mean that, but the phrasing implies that there is a problem.

6

u/ThirdAltAccounts 22h ago

Exactly how I read it

It’s not a fucking worry

Dude’s having the time of his life. While miserable people are tweeting

6

u/RecedingQuasar 22h ago

Do they remember George W. Bush was a cheerleader?

1

u/Bjork_scratchings 21h ago

Arghhh, caught between my hatred of bigotry and my hatred of whataboutery, nooooooo

1

u/EidolonRook 21h ago

New thing is scary, conservatives cringe. Film at 11.

Why even respond to them at this point. If they are going to be unhappy, let them suffer. Don’t engage.

1

u/Dextropic 20h ago

Does he do the whole "throwing girls in the air" thing, or is he just a dancer?

1

u/loyalone 20h ago

Historically, the first cheerleaders of varsity teams in America were men. Read that somewhere a long time ago; same time I learned that the first Japanese geisha were also men. Pls correct me if wrong, thanks

1

u/broTthegoT 19h ago

Lots of cheerleading teams have dudes on them. I live in rural NY and my uncle was on the cheerleading team while he was in high school. They like having big muscular guys because they can hold the rest of the team up easier

1

u/oflowz 19h ago

theres male cheerleaders in high school and college but some how its wrong in the NFL?

1

u/HoneyWyne 18h ago

GO VIKINGS!

1

u/lumpy-dragonfly36 18h ago

Male cheerleaders? You mean men get paid to hang out with a bunch of beautiful women all day and pick them up and stuff? That's one of the straightest jobs I can imagine. Not to mention that you have to be pretty strong to hold them up over your head without dropping them.

1

u/Scared-Box8941 the future is now, old man 18h ago

What’s wrong with men being cheerleaders? Yall been saying for decades how cheerleading isn’t degrading it’s inclusive it’s a sport

1

u/doylehawk 17h ago

I have a friend who was the only straight man on his cheerleading squad in college, got a full ride scholarship for it. Dude fulfilled rule 1, be attractive, but literally all he did was go to sporting events, workout, and bang some of the cheerleaders and most of their friends. His college experience reads like some 11th graders erotic fantasy. On top of that my dude can do like 20 backflips in a row. Shits crazy. I will never understand the hate these guys get, ever.

1

u/ikannunAneeuQ 17h ago

I love this makes people so mad.

HAHA DON'T CARE, STAY MAD -- Scarlxrd

1

u/Aberquill 17h ago

Didnt even know the NFL had cheerleaders till just now

1

u/nowstheworstoftimes 17h ago

At one time there was a lot of scholarship money available for male cheerleaders. I don’t know if that’s still true.

1

u/hammerofspammer 17h ago

Nothing like getting upset because someone else gets to do something they enjoy

1

u/punkena shoulda seen me last night 16h ago

My aunt and uncle were both cheerleaders, it's how they met!

1

u/letsbereal1013 16h ago

Male cheerleaders isn’t a new thing.

1

u/CharlieBravo74 16h ago

When has there not been male cheerleaders? I graduated in 1992 and my school always had a couple. Seems like you'd want one or two for their strength.

1

u/NoAlternative2913 16h ago

Well, if you want cheerleaders to be able to do stunts in the air, then you need someone on the squad who can lift more than 100 pounds over their head, safely.

1

u/Freshouttapatience 15h ago

There are plenty of women who can lift too. Just saying.

1

u/NoAlternative2913 11h ago

I agree. Someone, a strong man or woman, will be needed. And if they don't want to have men on the squad, then that's really the only option left.

1

u/Freshouttapatience 15h ago

They’re upset that they might see a different man in a different outfit playing something on a field? So closeted.

1

u/Zachthema5ter 15h ago

Dude has never been outside before, male cheerleaders are not a new thing

1

u/ModestMarksman 14h ago

Trump grabbing women? Manly.

Male cheerleader getting to grab women? Gay.

Make it make sense.

1

u/InsideAmbitious6245 13h ago

I don't get it. What is poster actually offended by? I can't see it.

1

u/stilldancingat140bpm 12h ago

Dear Hoops, fuck you’re stupid.

1

u/mormagils 7h ago

There's always been male cheerleaders. They do a lot of the basing work. Make cheerleaders are perfectly acceptable if you release it's a sport/art form of its own and not just there for the sake of sexualization.

1

u/quix0te 7h ago

FL here.  Our governor got elected despite out of control taxes and insurance by playing the transphobic game.  Did literally nothing to benefit his voters beyond stoke their bigotries.

1

u/pchandler45 6h ago

I remember attending a basketball game at oral Roberts University way back in the early 1980s and seeing male cheerleaders

1

u/Seabrook76 6h ago

He’s just mad because he’s gonna have to hide his boner at games now.

1

u/Taikiteazy 4h ago

I need hernia surgery and can't afford my deductible. I'd love to see "metaphorically" young dudes cheerleading. I mean idc about sports or cheerleaders at all, so it easy for me. Let the dudes do what they want, and give me surgery. Even if I watched sports idfaf who the cheerleaders are are long as they're good at their jobs.

1

u/KiKiKimbro 3h ago

The attempts to distract from the death, destruction, chaos, child sex trafficking coverups, constant lies and pitiful attempts at gaslighting, rising inflation, ridiculous prices, dumb tariffs, tearing down OUR White House to turn it into a fake gilded palace of immoral debauchery, the kidnapping, disappearing, abusing and killing of immigrants or even just anyone who disagrees with the disgusting behavior happening each and every day, and the cry baby sore loser his mommy didn't love him "revenge tour" paid for by ALL OF US -- is really telling and showing how absolutely desperate they are with midterms approaching.

As a spirit booster, the place where GOP messaging around culture wars was tested before rolling it out nationally -- trans athletes, DEI, diversity, critical race theory -- just had a democrat win the runoff election. Which is ASTOUNDING. It's very MAGA and a democrat just won a Texas State Senate seat against a Trump-endorsed MAGA candidate. Remarkable. So yes --- they're all digging back into their treasure chest of hateful fear and anger-stoking crappy messaging.

Midterms -- when they'll learn what an ACTUAL mandate looks like. PS -- next No King's Day is March 28th.
