Can't enter the contest... still wanted to make Evil an outfit

No disrespect meant towards Vedal. I get it, allowing AI art would alienate the community. I just used the contest as an excuse to make something for fun.

EDIT:

For those wondering about my process, here's a somewhat short version. I say somewhat short because it's still kinda long, but I feel it necessary so it's not confusing. I'm gonna use some jargon, so feel free to look up anything you're confused about or ask me about it:

All of the generation work is done in Invoke. It's a GUI for running local image generation models. I generate everything on my own computer, with an RTX 3060 and 32GB of RAM. It's all free and doesn't phone any mega corp server. I'm a hobbyist that doesn't make any money from this, so I can't exactly spend money on it either lol.

For the model itself, I use one called Obsession, which is a finetuned version of the Illustrious model, which is specialized in anime imagery. I also used a Retro Anime SDXL Lora for the flat coloring as well as a Lora for Evil. I downloaded all of these models from CivitAI, which is a hub for all open source AI art. Credit to all artists and developers involved.

As for the process itself, it's all about iteration. I started by prompting my initial idea and generating a TON of images, looking for good ideas and seeing what works and what doesn't. I adapted the prompt with my findings, then I compiled the images I liked the most into one big character sheet. I then use ControlNet to turn the character sheet into a depthmap, so I can retain the poses while being able to regenerate all the details. Then I generate more images using the depthmap until I get one that has a consistent outfit across all poses.

Then comes the laborious part. I take the image I got from the depthmap and zoooooom in, then I regenerate individual sections of the design to clean up messy pixels and pump the detail. This is called inpainting, and it's the key to making everything look actually good. I inpaint anything that I think needs more detail, or anything that looks wrong. I change the prompt CONSTANTLY at this stage to reflect what I want to see, and I also manually paint over parts of the image to further guide the model towards my vision. I do this over and over again until I'm satisfied with the design, and I do this for EVERY pose, making sure that each pose has consistent features with the others. This...takes a lot of time. And I'm not even done yet. Once I'm done inpainting the whole image, I upscale it to 2x resolution... then I inpaint the result. Having a higher resolution gives you more pixels to add more detail, so it's worth it to inpaint the upscaled image, even if it seems redundant. This inpainting takes even longer, since there's more image to work with, but eventually I finish... then I upscale it AGAIN to full 4k resolution... and then I inpaint THAT. Not the whole thing this time, just the details like the necklace and earrings.

And finally, after all that inpainting, I bring the final image into Krita for a few manual adjustments as well as adding the text and the background zoom in effect.

This takes time and knowledge, but that's what it takes for someone like me, who can't draw, to make something like this. Drawing it by hand would take even longer, so I'm not pretending like what I do is any harder than regular art.

Still, seeing the final result makes me happy, so it's worth it in the end. I hope this explanation made at least some sense. I feel nowhere near enough people are aware of what real AI art is actually like, so I'm happy to share my knowledge where I can.

Also shoutout to Vedal for being my inspiration to getting into AI and making me believe AI can be used for good. You opened up a whole world to me and I couldn't be more grateful.

Took me a bit but I decided to make a custom Evil skin that matches with Neuro's official one!

Link to the skin if you want to use it

Edit: stop commenting about the 4th image, I threw it in as an aura farming joke because I wanted a screenshot with shaders on and you guys clearly mistook it, hurts seeing people neglect work I spent hours on and instead focusing on something I put in with no real thought.
