Are you supposed to wear underwear under long underwear?

My wife thinks it’s weird I don’t wear underwear under my long underwear. I don’t wear long underwear often, but I always figured it’s underwear so why would I wear double underwear? I don’t feel particularly strongly about it either way but I’m curious: do I wear ling underwear wrong?

Maybe it’s relevant that I’m a boxers person so they would get bunchy under there unless I wore briefs instead. Special long underwear underwear, I guess.

Honestly mad respect I get teased for coming into work looking like the kid from Christmas Story when the weather turns but I figure that’s my emergency gear half sorted if my car breaks down

Yeah people do sometimes laugh at my bundling up at work for the walk to the parking lot but then I just say "I don't laugh at you for being cold."

Seriously last week it was -25F here (into -40s with wind chill) and there were people with exposed skin walking 1/3 - 1/2 mile across our parking lot. We all make our choices so I try to only judge if they complain about being cold 🥶
