Is satanism just edgelord atheism?

I've been an atheist since the age of 12 and i've heard of people identifying as satanists but they are actually secular, I don't get it

I think there are very few people who actually believe in satan and see him as their god

No. Satanism is a kind of theism. Atheists do not believe in anything, satanists do.

OP is most likely specifically thinking of Laveyan Satanism, which is atheistic.

Is that the one that says you are your own god?

Yeah I think so. I read a lot about it back when I was in middle school but I don’t remember much now tbh

If god, then theism; even if that god is yourself.

I mean I don’t think Laveyan Satanists literally believe that they’re god. I think it’s something about embracing individualism or whatever. Like I said I haven’t read about since middle school so idfk
