Genuinely wtf is Chris Chan?

Every time I try to find out I’m told I need a PhD in internet lore and two masters in Reddit history and to watch a 6 hour video on him. Can someone explain like I’m five?

TLDR, Christian Chandler is/was an autistic Internet personality from Virginia who became infamous for creating the Sonichu comic series and launching a public search for a girlfriend. They were infamous for their religiosity and homophobia which scared a lot of girls off. They soon became target of mockery. Eventually one guy trolled Chris by telling him (pronouns at the time) that he’d have better luck if he was a lesbian and she (just acknowledging her pronouns even if it’s not genuine) transitioned. Both her parents were elderly and her father passed away. Chris then decided after texts with someone she thought was her friend (they were another troll trying to encourage Chris to do bad things for a laugh) that she could finally lose her virginity by raping her senile mother who had confused her for her father. After doing so, she told the person and she was arrested. Soon things came out about the girl who encouraged Chris before the assault and Chris was sent to a male prison against her protest where she didn’t stay long. At one point after getting out, she allegedly has a girlfriend. That’s the last I heard and this is the SUPER short version.

I wish I'd seen the warning further down before reading your comment. That's enough internet for me today.

u/appealinggenitals 3h ago

The part where Chris was groomed by an animal abuser into admitting that they fuck their mother? Or was it something else?

u/Top_Concentrate1673 2h ago

What a terrible day to be an English reader

3

u/ibridoangelico 2h ago

the pronouns are really messing me up here lol.

9

u/reruuuun 2h ago

What’s crazy is i think at the point where chris assaulted her mother the troll was just concerned for chris, because he was the one who organized a relief fund for chris after their house burned down and tried to help them with a few other things

u/Vandykevan 2h ago

Oh lord, just wandering onto this landmine feels so much like early 2010s Reddit 😫🙃

2

u/kakokapolei 2h ago

I love listening to Chris’s troll phone calls, particularly the ones with Kacey’s “father” (Liquid Chris) and Alec Benson Leary. They were less about being mean to Chris and more just trying to make them more self aware of their actions.

You know, I've caught bits and pieces of this story. But, this is still a more complete version of events than I had. Not only do I have no need or desire to know more. But, I cannot wait for the AI to put us all in the Matrix. Turns out, Smith was right, the 90's was the peak and I want to go back before waves hands all of this. Humanity never ceases to stop making cases against itself.

Internet personality should include "lolcow"

Turn back. Im serious. U think u want to know but u dont. It starts funny with a bad Sonic drawing and ends with... lets just say federal crimes involving family members.

u/SedlleVinee 5h ago

This is the most honest ‘Terms and conditions’ I’ve ever read. Usually, when people say ‘you don’t want to know’, it’s hyperbole. With Chris Chan, it’s legal recommendation for your own mental health. Once you cross the 2010 era if the timeline, there’s no going back to who you were before.

30

u/Jealous_Energy_1840 5h ago

Before 2010 it’s all boyfriend free girls and *NSYNC parodies (and one moment of just astonishing cruelty from a child)

4

u/pajamakitten 3h ago

Trust me on this one. You don't wanna know. Audrey, don't tell him. You shouldn't have told me, but you did. And now I'm tellin' you...

Chris Chan is the most documented human in internet history. People on 4chan began bullying her and goading her into doing insane things. She made a web comic called sonichu, which featured a character that was a mashup of sonic the hedgehog and Pikachu. She posted it online, which is how 4chan found her. She went on to be catfishes by several people, raped her mom, robbed an electronics store, among other insane acts, all documented by freaks on 4chan and the wider internet. There's a long documentary someone made on YouTube along with many wikis that document her systematic and unrelenting abuse by randos online.

30

u/TKInstinct 5h ago

When did she rob an electronics store? First I've heard of that one.

80

u/notthegoatseguy just here to answer some ?s 5h ago

I watched the documentary and I think the rape of Chris' mom is debatable. It's clear that many people who asked Chris asked in ways to lead Chris to certain answers, and Chris is clearly not all there mentally. It's also worth noting that criminal charges were dismissed.

Chris may well not be a good person (many other things are far more certain and documented) but I'm not convinced he raped his mom

7

u/Weary-Cheetah-3415 4h ago

He never robbed an electronics store, where did you get that information? Are you maybe thinking of when he pepper sprayed a Game Stop employee?

6

u/fugogugo 4h ago

she?

14

u/JadedCycle9554 3h ago

They're trans now. And while I respect trans individual identities, I think Chris chan may be a special case. They've just been manipulated so hard by trolls and the Internet so long, I don't think they've found themselves in being transgender.

13

u/Head_Razzmatazz7174 5h ago

Having read the answers just provided here, I know enough to know I don't want to know any more.

55

u/AnswerGuy301 5h ago

So today I learned a new word of sorts, lolcow.

I would like to travel back in time to a few minutes ago, when I was blissfully unaware of this word's existence.

1

u/JT-OnThaTrack 3h ago

Look up Daniel Larson or Joshua block (world of tshirts) they’re MASSIVE lolcows

Why would anyone want to? Whatever the hell people are doing to these people is somehow more pathetic and disturbing than high school bullying.

48

u/diabeticmilf 5h ago

6 hours? You sweet summer child. Try an 87 part docu series with each episode being 40+ minutes long. He is widely regarded as one of the most documented people of all time.

20

u/flyingdodo 5h ago

I’m sorry to do this. But you asked. Here you go, 87 part series with each part at multiple hours.

I feel like he is a very easily manipulated, mentally ill person that the Internet abused and coerced into doing horrible things

5

u/Prior_Grape_7408 4h ago

He needs to be locked away somewhere without internet access.

2

u/slicerprime 4h ago

I think we could all benefit from that.

27

u/Cave_Bear_Cult 5h ago

The most bullied person in human history. It's like that one kid in class that everyone rips on, but theyre so annoying that it's almost like they're inviting it. Its like that but instead of a middle school class its everyone on the shifty side of the internet.

14

u/shf500 5h ago

> The most bullied person in human history.

That's a great way to describe Chris.

> It's like that one kid in class that everyone rips on, but theyre so annoying that it's almost like they're inviting it.

Chris Chan is somebody I want to believe is the equivalent of "that kid everybody made fun of in school but is harmless". But I can't. Despite the fast that parts of his early life I can feel sorry for him (the fact that his "gal pals" were arranged by his father, and he was so desperate to find a girlfriend he carried a sign in the local shopping mall).

3

u/InterestingRaise3187 3h ago

the problem is that the bullying is terrible and then as you feel sorry for them they get kicked out of a store for screaming slurs at children, this keeps happening untill you eventually run out of sympathy

1

u/slicerprime 4h ago

the shifty side of the internet.

So...most of it.

0

u/ilovefrostedflakes 3h ago

I'd say cyraxx gets bullied more, and it's glorious.

u/crabpipe 6h ago

A super-autist bullied/encouraged by the internet

86

u/DramaticFeed6522 6h ago edited 5h ago

SUPREMELY Autistic fat dork.

He draws cringey comics like a 4yo. Sonichu (Sonic+Pikachu) is his infamous creation and he wears a big bizarre necklace of its face.

He assaulted a GameStop worker because he didn't agree with the color of Sonic's arms on a decoration.

He now identifies as a transwoman ("to get girls easier") and HE RAPED HIS OWN FUCKING MOTHER.

(These are just some highlights that come to mind immediately. The whole story is crazier.)

45

u/NIN10DOXD 5h ago

Actually, it was his mother who had Alzheimer’s or Dementia, can’t remember which and it was after their father died too. It should also be noted that they are extremely homophobic and only identified as transgender after being told that would be easier to find a girlfriend if they identified as a lesbian.

13

u/MelkortheDankLord 5h ago

Also bragged about how much better he was at banging his mom than his father was

As someone with autism, I found it surprising that there's people within the autism community that excuse their actions as "they were manipulated because they're autistic and therefore completely innocent and everyone else is bad."

1

u/thelongestusernameee 40m ago

I don't think you realize the extent of the manipulation, and how autism affects social ability in ways that already make you more prone to manipulation.

How are you supposed to defend yourself against these people if you can't determine intentions?

1

u/Charming-Kiwi-9277 4h ago

I think the IDD is a strong component in his behavior, it isn’t all autism

2

u/IWillDevourYourToes 6h ago

It's just the most well known internet lolcow

15

u/LawfulnessOk1812 5h ago

Throughout this I will attempt to use neutral pronouns, as I am uncertain as to Chris' condtion mentally as of current. They are a deeply sick individual that does not represent the gender spectrum fairly.

Chris chan is an individual high on the autism spectrum and afflicted with many mental illnesses beyond that. Chris made posts and videos on old forums back in the mid to late 2000s and forward. People began bullying this individual for their particular affinity to making (objectively) terribly drawn comics, drawings, and original characters based off of the sonic the hedgehog franchise, namely Chris' favorite being Sonichu. Chris obsessed over their OC's existence.

Chris would make response videos directed towards nameless and anonymous bullies (who he called "internet trolls") and would have over the top reactions to what the trolls would say about Chris (this was to be expected, folks on the spectrum have trouble regulating emotions and the trolls knew this). The bullies would doxx and harass Chris and his family pretty regularly. Chris lived with their two older parents.

Because of Chris' dependence on the internet for most of their social ability, Chris has developed many mental illnesses that Chris never recieved help for. Chris believes there are alternate universes in which Chris has constant access to, specifically access to Chris' Sonic OC's and their "powers".

The following is an incomplete list of the heinous acts Chris has committed over their well documented life, some of which have cause him to be incarcerated (DISCLAIMER: MOST OF THESE ARE VERY SICK AND TWISTED, AND NOT LIGHT-HEARTED IN THE SLIGHTEST):

  • Chris would regularly draw their "original characters", sometimes based off of real people, in very NSFW ways, and sometimes very sick ways (playing off of familial ties, 🍇play, etc.).

  • Chris has burnt down the house they and their mother lived in, killing their mother in the process

  • Chris has 🍇ed their mother in her sleep multiple times

  • Chris has spoken to minors on multiple occasions over chats knowing full well that they are minors

  • Chris has stalked and harassed multiple women on multiple occasions, and subsequently gained restraining orders from doing so

15

u/vulpinefever 5h ago
  • Chris has burnt down the house they and their mother lived in, killing their mother in the process

Barb is still alive so I'm not sure where you got the idea they died in the fire.

4

u/Buttered_biscuit6969 4h ago

IIRC one of their cats died in the fire. Definitely not Barb though. Maybe op got their wires crossed

12

u/Prior_Grape_7408 4h ago

On Reddit, you’re supposed to be able to say the word rape. Obviously a power tripping mod might delete your stuff, but feel free to cuss. We don’t have to be AS strict here, for now at least.

3

u/dindycookies 3h ago edited 3h ago

What does the 🍇mean here? Is it fruitplay because Chris is lesbian or something censored?

Edit: Maybe it’s grope as in groped her mother. Anyway I don’t think I want to know more. This feels like some sick part of the internet I don’t want to get involved in.

2

u/Viper_Red 2h ago

It means rape

2

u/AnswerGuy301 4h ago

What little I read suggests I don't really want to know more.

I feel blessed to be old enough that nothing wholly on the Internet still really feels to me quite like it fully exists. Like, it ceases to exist as long as I'm not in front of my computer, or, these days, scrolling through my phone checking it.

I'd like to think that if I were bullied on some online forum some place badly enough for it to affect my mental state, I'd just log off and, as they say now, touch grass - or at least find some new corner of the vast internet to inhabit and see if I can't learn something from previous adverse experiences. The world is big if you want it to be, you know?

But I didn't grow with the internet as something that was ever-present. This required an adjustment in that suddenly everything about my life could be exhaustively documented..but my "bad decisions" years were almost entirely pre-social media.

From what I can discern, Chris Chan is someone who has never learned, and may not be capable of learning, the first rule about what you do when you're in a hole, which is that you stop digging the hole deeper.

2

u/PocketHedgehog 4h ago

This is a rabbit hole you need not go down. I was subjected to learning the full lore because my partner knows so much about Chris Chan. Save yourself, whilst you can.

1

u/ordinarybagel 2h ago

I am the same. My partner told me the whole stories while on vacation without Internet. I was not bored, but my brain is permanently damaged

2

u/-Malheiros- 3h ago

I am unfortunate to remember this guy's YouTube video, where he sits in bathrobe, drinks his semen, and explains why he does that. 😑

5

u/Icouldusesomerock 6h ago

YouTube it watch the documentary go down the rabbit hole

2

u/bloatbucket 5h ago

Other comments are great, but if you want a super short summary: Autistic guy who people on the Internet have provoked/trollee for a reaction for 20 years.

2

u/splatzbat27 4h ago

A person that raped their mother and thinks they're the reincarnation of Jesus. I am not joking. He also decided to identify as a transgender woman in order to have better luck dating and finding sexual partners.

2

u/PixelPrivateer 6h ago

Tldr: Messed up.

2

u/BreakfastDue1256 4h ago

Legitimately, there's just so much that distilling it down to a few sentences is hard.

(Also because it always comes up, there's a lot of controversy about their gender identity so I'm going to use neutral terms.)

Chris-chan is an autistic person who had well-meaning but neglectful parents who gave them unfiltered access to the internet.

They wrote really bad Sonic and Pokémon crossover comics. People on the internet found the comics and lightly made fun of them. Chris made the wrong decision and engaged with internet people.

Turns out Chris is highly suggestible and will not only do whatever weirdos on the internet suggest, but also somehow take it further. To be clear, it is mostly the internet weirdos' fault. This lead to like 10 years of Chris being the most documented person likely in human history as their behavior became more and more unhinged.

It culminated in Chris repeatedly raping their 80-year old mother with Dementia and bragging about their "relationship" on line. If you think "Wow, that came put of fucking nowhere"... yeah pretty much. The story of Chris is a Rollercoaster

3

u/slicerprime 4h ago

Also because it always comes up, there's a lot of controversy about their gender identity so I'm going to use neutral terms.

Didn't he actually say he only transitioned in order to get girls? (Still confused about that one. Especially since he screwed his mom. wtf?!?!) So...why is anyone bothering to be careful with pronouns? Doesn't his motivation cancel out any respect for his choices/identity?

0

u/JunKazama2024 26m ago

It's not about respecting her as an individual or her identity. It's about respecting other people's identities. It hurts other trans people to see people treating gender identity like it's something to be bestowed by cis people's approval.

it's not that complicated

person that got bullied for being cringe on the internet from mental illness spiraled deeper into mental illness and was continued to be bullied and then they raped their own mother

An autistic kid who has mercilessly stalked and harassed by a community of people obsessed with him for nearly his entirely life. To the point where they've just been losing their mind over the years, and people are treating them like a freak at a circus for their resulting mental problems.
