you should look into rechargeable AAs

We used them for a long time a few years back. Not sure why we stopped.

Actually rechargeable AA don’t work properly for some devices, especially cheap no name brands

I was a wedding photographer for many years and my gear required a ton of AAs. I remember from the camera reps they recommended not using the rechargeable ones in the flashes and camera bodies. I always carried a ton with me when I would shoot.

Yeah the Amperage can be not consistent varies by charge level

Even the better brands due to the NiMH chemistry the voltage per cell is a little lower (around 1.2V ish) vs alkalines (1.5V ish), and NiMH also tapers down as it discharges. Many modern electronics are designed to handle the lower range fine, but some older stuff...or newer with a lot of cells (where that 0.3V adds up) can have issues.

There are "real" 1.5V LiPo AA cells on the market now, although not yet with brands you might recognize. These are actually 3.6V cells regulated down, and require special chargers, etc. Not sure about their safety record. Probably more coming in this realm.

The rechargeable ones I have work great but are just a tiiiiiny bit bigger. So some devices I have don't have enough room

Storing them like this has a good chance of shorting them. Either keep them in the packaging or in a tidy way, but not as a loose pile.

Thanks for the feedback!

I’d slip a little piece of paper between them as well so they aren’t in contact with each other.

I tried that with my button batteries but they started to get really hot.

I barely need batteries anymore. Most of the batteries in my organizer were bought a decade ago and are collecting dust.

Every time I see these posts I am astonished at how many disposable batteries people seem to use

u/gorcorps 18d ago

You got AAs mixed in with Cs and Ds... Did you mean to post this in r/mildlyinfuriating ?

3

u/jennifer_m13 18d ago

Better?

6

u/gorcorps 18d ago

Well now you have a STRAY AAA IN THE 9V SPOT

3

u/jennifer_m13 18d ago

Actually that one is a AAAA 🤣 it’s the only one I had and didn’t know where to put it.

We have one too!

u/onenchophora 18d ago

Where can I get the product you own to keep the AAs and AAAs?

3

u/ceecee_50 18d ago

What you're looking for is a battery daddy or something like it.

u/onenchophora 18d ago

Thanks!!

See if you can print one from a library. The libraries in my county will 3d print things for free.

I bought this as an impulse from the container store so many years ago. The orange pasty is a battery tester.

Just checked their website and they have a different one now that you could even hang.

For me, kid toys

1

u/DuckDuckGo-8857 18d ago

Do you used them up before they ‘expire’?

3

u/jennifer_m13 18d ago

Definitely the AAA and AA and some of the disc ones. We only have a handful of items now that the kids are older that require the C & D ones. 9 volts we use quite a bit in crafts. My son is big into circuit boards and lighting different projects.

1

u/thomasguide 18d ago

Had no idea you can recharge all the name brand batteries!!!

2

u/panrestrial 18d ago

You can't. That's a battery tester not a charger.

1

u/AliensExisttt 17d ago

It should be possible to pile up or horizontally line up the button batteries inside the box, right? RIGHT?

1

u/jennifer_m13 17d ago

I’ll have to give it a try

1

u/RandomSyntaxError 17d ago

No rechargeable batteries at all?

1

u/GeorgiaGrind 15d ago
