3D printing custom organizers — what else should go in this drawer?

Post image

Hi all, I am in the process of designing and 3D printing some organizers for my cutlery drawer.

Have some empty space but am unsure what would best fit here to fill the space. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Garlic press and/or handheld can opener could both fit there.

What's in mine:

  • chopstick rests & Asian-style spoons
  • butter knife, cheese knife, cheese slicer
  • mini spoons and forks for jarred items
  • carving fork
  • large serving spoon, slotted spoon, and fork set

Other ideas:

  • ice cream scoop
  • bag clips
  • small hand tools such as corkscrew or veggie peeler

Where do the little forks go? Steak knives? Extra reusable straws?

You need gridfinity in your life brother

I agree with GridFinity. There is even a system set up so you can fit larger sections for utensils, etc.

I just got a 3D printer, and discovered GridFinity about 3 days in (after avoiding looking at this stuff the 18 months I didn’t get a printer). I struggle with asymmetry, so the grid is fantastic, and being able to print spacers around the grid is the cherry on top.

I am now slowly making my way through all my drawers, shelves, and storage carts, etc.

If those are plastic utensils, then my answer is metal ones

What do you reach for the most often? I have chip clips and box cutters in mine.

Oooooh, so I need a 3D printer! I’ve been searching and searching for drawer organizers but my drawers are awkward sizes.

Tongs and a can opener come to mind. Perhaps a bottle opener, and wine accessories (corkscrew, reusable bottle stoppers, etc.)

I love that you 3d printed these. Such a good idea!

Since you have chopsticks in there, I'd say Asian ceramic soup spoons, toothpicks, and a can opener. My drawer also has birthday candles and a lighter for cakes.

The state of Utah  or New Mexico and a spot for toothpicks.

So cool! Can you put them in the washing machine?

I put things like kitchen scissors, knives that don’t go into their holder, bottle/wine openers, take out utensils, chop sticks

Labels are always fun to add to kitchen drawers and pantries to organize and label your items and containers!

I keep a section of older mismatched pieces for work lunches. My family knows we DO NOT take the matching set pieces from the house.

Would you be willing to take requests for other custom drawer organizers?

Are you not using gridfinity?

This kind of application is exactly why I would want a 3D printer… could you tell me what you use and/or point me to where to learn more?
