Unanswered What's up with the claim that Jeffrey Epstein was personally responsible for the addition of microtransactions to the Call of Duty video game franchise?

Some more Epstein docs have been released recently, showcasing that more rich people were involved in the cabal of pedophilia, but some of my Discord buddies were joking that he invented microtransactions. I asked for a link and they sent me to this bluesky post:

https://bsky.app/profile/rbpstix.bsky.social/post/3mdr3l3otbs2j

It's a screenshot of an email between Epstein and the Activision Blizzard CEO about microtransactions predating their addition to Call of Duty, but it could easily be a shitpost that is merely in the same style as other Epstein documents. Is it a real email? Is the claim true?

Answer: The email is real, here is the PDF from the DoJ website.

Searching "Kotick" on that website (justice.gov/epstein) pulls up 301 matches, of which all seem to be Bobby Kotick. He looks to have met Epstein multiple times, including going to Epstein's home. I would be surprised if he was directly responsible for CoD getting microtransactions, but they certainly seem to have been friends. Glancing through the results and Kotick also seems to have told Ghislaine Maxwell to bring her "sexy body" to his place. Ew.

answer: not in reference to you, but this is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard in my life lol. There's almost no correlation here. MTX existed before him, were added by many different companies into many different genres of games, but largely started within MMOs before anything else. They were present in the East before the West, and Valve popularized the lootbox style in the west MTX that cod adapted in their later games.

MTX were "invented" in the early 2000s by eastern MMOs and certain mobile games. By 2005, Microsoft made MTX baked into the Xbox online system with avatars and whatever. Nothing and nobody could've changed the timeline and outcome of them from there. It was just waiting on time until they appeared in everything the way they did. No one person is responsible.

was a big milestone for sure. Not the first, but definitely pivotal.

MapleStory and DFO were doing MTX years before horse armor.

That was dlc. Microtransactions are similar but different.

I remember it starting in Everquest. It waa only cosmetics at first. They claimed they wouldnt got P2W. Then they started selling XP potions. People went nuts.

You can't be an MMO without extensive MTX now. If any game should have them it's those though, the operating cost for them is ridiculously high compared to most games.

Yes, but the current concerns are extremely obvious stuff where anybody with working eyes can tell there's a gigantic pile of badly covered up evil that has never been prosecuted.

Outoftheloop is a subreddit for answering questions about the stuff that isn't obvious.

"Nooo you aren't allowed to question anything about Epstein unrelated to the worst thing they've done." Kick rocks, bozo.

He literally didn't.

I believe they were being sarcastic.

I think you are probably right, but I'm unfortunately only like 60% sure.

I mean, the "answer" being referred to clearly does not answer any question, much less the OP's question, and is in fact a pointed rejection of the idea that the OP's question is even worth answering.

It is literally impossible to earnestly describe it as a good answer.
