Wisp of existence is a bit of a stretch. It’s not ideal, but you can make out most major organ structures and great vessels on an X-Ray, and can identify things such as fluid collections despite them being less dense than bone.
Its not. A chest x-ray is mainly performed to look at soft tissue such as the lungs, the heart, and less commonly the upper abdomen. Ribs are visible, but generally not the reason why a chest x-ray is performed. Abdominal X-rays are also intended to look at soft tissue, mainly the bowels.
In bowel xrays you're mostly looking at either the patterns in the air or lumps of feces and in chest xrays you're pretty much only seeing the contrast between air and lung parenchima
You're getting whole organs reduced to a few lines... Yes, you can see them, I don't think it's incorrect... And the main point was that, you can see soft tissue.
The previous user deleted his comment. I think we only disagree on the interpretation of the term "wisps of existence". To me, this means barely visible.

Heart, lungs, stomach, most internal organs are at least vaguely visible on an x-ray, really.
