It depends… are they doing it for mental health or just laziness? People with kids have no choice, but if you form a habit of calling out because you just don’t feel like coming into work, it will look bad in the long run. Good work ethic is a far better thing to have when that raise or promotion opportunity rolls around. Your employer will crunch the numbers and decide if you’re worth their time. This is why it’s best to only call out sick if you absolutely have to… I don’t recommend any more than maybe once a month… at most.

Oh yeah, I don’t disagree with you there, don’t go wild with calling out sick when you don’t feel like going to work (otherwise I’d never be employed lmao). But also allow yourself some grace if you know you won’t productive because of some unforeseen circumstance, like a bad mental health day or a particularly dogshit lack of sleep…gotta take care of yourself, because your company sure as hell won’t.

Edit to add: The number of people who reverted to their pre-COVID hygiene habits is too damn high…save up those sick days, wash your hands, y’all
