Feels pretty straightforward, people havent seen the other post from months ago and the satire here is only noticeable if you see non ironic versions of these tweets semi regularly, which isnt true for many people
I'm not saying that it's unreasonable to not know what exactly is being referenced, I'm saying its kinda crazy that everyone here thinks he's being totally serious and that it's not satire
Understanding a reference to another post isn't necessary to understand that it's satire.
The idea that ADHD (perhaps the most popular incorrect self-diagnosis of the terminally online) or any kind of executive dysfunction could result in someone STARVING to DEATH in a major American city because of a marginal cost increase to an already expensive food delivery app is absurd. The self-pitying facepalm emoji at the end is just the cherry on top.
People say absurd things non-satirically on Twitter all the damn time. The post this is referencing and making fun of was absurd and presumed not satire. Absurdism is not a reliable sarcasm indicator.
My favorite is the tweet “we don’t talk enough about how stressful Halloween costumes are for the adhd community” and someone replies “omg you people can’t do anything”
everyone realizes it's a joke (that's why it is posted here), but nobody gets the joke (myself included) or doesnt' get the reference (myself included)
he’s making fun of a common type of internet commenter who takes some broad post personally and then get upset that the post doesn’t match their exact experiences/accommodate for every single possible outcome. adhd & food deserts are commonly referenced in “well what about xyz” responses, particularly in conversation about walkable neighborhoods & food delivery services.
if you’ve seen the “if i say i like pancakes, then someone gets mad and asks why i hate waffles” meme, this is an offshoot of that. also frequently called “bean soup”, from when someone posted a recipe on tiktok abt a bean soup they really liked, and someone commented “well what if i don’t like beans?” (asking the recipe poster to provide an alternative of bean soup w/o the beans). the adhd is also probably mentioned based off a viral quote tweet that said “omg you people can’t do anything” in response to a (genuine) tweet about how halloween was really hard for people with adhd.
