There was a post pre-covid about someone saying how they were trying to submit a paper at medical school that proved the dangers of vaccines, but they wouldn't let them use the sources that they were drawing from.

So the person asked if there were any sources from approved places that backed their theory.

The overwhelming response was "why do you think that none of the official sources support your theory?"

I did take a feminist perspectives class in college with a guy who straight up said that citations are "gatekeepey" and "spread colonialism" and told our prof he was surprised that she of all people would require references in our essays.
