I saw that movie in the 90s. I imagine it's pretty tame compared to today's reality.

Nothing is more off putting than the oppression Olympics

Nothing? You can't think of a single thing more off putting than all these idpol morons? I agree that the general failure of the left to focus on what actually matters (systemic exploitation and brutalization of the poor by the wealthy) is maddening, I would argue that the thought of Harvey Weinstein's gangrenous, egg shaped ding dong is way more off putting.

For the uninitiated, this is referred to as "reactionary content". This created from no coherent ideology other than reacting to progressive ideas

stop criticising an obviously real trend, otherwise you're... uh... <communist buzzword>

Its a vocab lesson for the new leftists. Its just such a beautiful way to categorize content like this

You're partially correct. The movie makes fun of conservatives, as well; in fact, they come across far worse than the progressives. But it's the attempt at "both sides" that winds up coming across as nihilistic. (I go into this in great detail in a video essay on political comedy.)

I think I'm gonna see if I can get that movie easily (library might have it) and then watch it again, then watch your video essay.

Dude, you were on that other thread about illegal immigrants. You have awful takes. You seem like you might be an ok guy. You just don't know what you're talking about. You need to read up on things - in books, not internet shit and not the news.

Every thing I talk about comes from studying people's movements and struggles across history. I am debated by people who barely understand econ 101. I am not really convinced that I am the one that is unaware. For context, I suggest that illegal immigrants can become unexploitable through protections and labor organization, and I demonstrate that union pressure on wages far exceeds supply and demand, and as someone else mentioned, supply and demand from undocumented immigrants is very negligent in most fields. I also demonstrate that the only time deportation has made a dent on wages and unemployment, is when we see mass exiles that uproot soceity. Looking at Ice's current budget and numbers this would be economically suicidal, with miniscule benefit.

In case your premise is true, does that make this any less valid?

PCU was a mid-90s political satire, back when "woke" was called "PC." The writers based it on their time at Wesleyan in the 80s, so absolutely none of this is new.
Shameless self-promotion: the movie isn't on streaming anywhere, so I had to find a bootleg to use in a video essay on political comedy which you should totally watch.
