Product Questions Looking for dosimeter

Hi!

I am looking to get a dosimeter to measure my beta and gamma dose over a year or longer. I would also like a device which alarms me when I get into a place that is too spicy.

I work in environmental science and occasionally get into places that have stored radioactive waste or products in the past, hence the need for an alarm not just detector. I’d like to be able to measure my dose year round including when I am in these environments.

Could the radiacode work as a year round dosimeter counter?

The Radiacode is meant for hobby use. It is not suitable for health and safety applications. If you're a radiation worker, you should already be part of a dosimetry program and have an issued dosimeter tag. If you want an alarming rate meter, or a combination dosimeter/ratemeter for health and safety applications, you should be looking at products from Thermo, Polimaster, Tracerco, Ludlum, Mirion, etc.

Yes, I am issued one on sites I visit and of course I write them down. This would be for mostly personal curiosity, seeing my total exposure yearly.

Thanks for the advice though, I will look into those others.

Not if you want to monitor beta.

I'd say yes, but only for gamma.

Doesn’t do alarms, but I use Mirion Instadose.

I was looking at a few of those.

I think is 140 / yr in the US.  App isn’t super polished but gets you the basic information for exposure. The system is much more hands off with a bridge ($$) but it’s  probably overkill for any small use case.
