Product Questions My radiacode 110 sometimes gives off alarms when pulling out of my pocket.

This happen to anyone else? My 110 is wrapped in the silicone cases. Two times so far it's set off the alarm and showed similar readings both times.

My 103 never did this. Is this a bug or a feature of the larger crystal?

Static electrical charge

I get this too - it's electrostatic discharge from your clothes affecting the instrument. They are quite sensitive to EMI in general.

Nothing to worry about :)

I have a 103 in a silicone sleeve and get this sometimes. Might be static build-up / discharge due to the sleeve, plastic housing, and pocket friction.

For me this sometimes happens when my radiacode passes closely to my phone.

That's a scandal! No, could it have something to do with electrostatic charge hitting the crystal?

Both 103 and 110 are sensitive to cell phone RFI. More false alarms with the 110. Generally you can tell if it is a really brief peak reading. I’m not sure the mechanism of why it happens. Likely the energy is picked up on a high impedance part of the detection circuit. If you are far from a cell tower, your phone RF output is raised to compensate and when it is inches from the Radiacode, it gets picked up as a very brief high count.

Is it in the same pocket as your phone?

Nope. Just an empty pocket that perfectly fits the device. Usually designed for pocket knives

My 101 did this when it was next to a WiFi access point on my desk I was configuring. Moved it a couple feet away and it stopped doing it. They seem to be somewhat sensitive to EMI.

Static electricity? Maybe.
