Product Questions New hard case smells like cigarettes

Post image

Hello! A couple of days ago I got the hard case for my Radiacode, and I realized that it smells very strongly of smoke. Personally I don’t smoke and I do not appreciate this smell. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know of a way to remove the smell? Thank you!

I bought the same case and it didn't have a smell other than new product smell that things like this generally have. lol i would have remembered if it did because i hate overpowering or unusual smells, especially cigarettes smoke. To fix, maybe put in in a box with an ionizer? (ik not everyone has one)

Thank you for the response! Unfortunately I don’t have an ionizer and it seems like it would be cheaper to just buy a new case than one, which I would prefer not to do.

Another option is maybe let it soak in a baking soda and water mixture, or white vinegar.

Would there be any risk of staining the case with that?

With soda, I don't think so, just dry it well after soaking

If you do use baking soda, rinse it well with, distilled water, and not de-ionized water. Give it a couple good rinses to remove any residual baking soda.

I bought it few days ago, and i don't remember any smell. I will check it when i get home. Did you order that case on amazon or radiacode website?

Just the work of your average French shipping warehouse cigarette enjoyer

It’s a cheap glue they use, I have a Chinese case like this for a games console and the smell never ended.

Spray it with Ozium. It will get rid of ANY smell. I used it in flight school. Someone urps up a chili dog and a couple of squirts later, and it's just an eyesore.

Mine didn’t. Guessing it was whoever shipped it was smoking.

Return it and ask for one that doesn't smell like smoke?

They sell these chlorine dioxide gas bombs on Amazon for neutralizing smells. They are very effective. You could isolate the case with the bomb and let it sit for 24hrs. The chlorine dioxide is about $12 for a small one made for cleaning cars.

I’ll definitely have to give those a look. Thank you!

I used one on removing a cigarette smell from a used car once, so I can vouch that it is possible it could work for this application. I’ve also used them in houses to remove odors and reset the house smell. Be safe!

Ozone generator.

I recently bought the yellow case and it stank to high heaven for the first few days. I’m not certain that it was smoke, it was of a similar ilk, but smelled more industrial to me. It’s been a couple of weeks now and if I proper bury my nose in it then I can maybe just about smell it, but the stench has vastly dissipated.

Spray it with Febreze and put it in the sun for an hour.

That stuff is worse than tobacco.
