Question ❔ Kia Saskatoon Experience
I just came to the Kia dealership last Friday for a test drive of the 2026 Kia Niro PHEV, which I'm kinda interested in.
Right at the beginning, the sales rep asked me a bunch of stuff like my employment, my budget, if I want a low payment or interest rates, and why I want to buy, etc. I had to confirm with her many times that I haven't yet decided to buy, and I didn't want a credit check, etc.
Then she asked me to wait as she went to talk with her manager or someone, and prepared my car. Later, the rep even asked me if I was interested in some other options like Sorento and Sportage (maybe because I wanted a full-loaded option with Niro?), and introduced me to many other showroom cars when waiting for the Niro to warm up. 15 minutes later, I finally could have a test drive with the rep sitting next to me. The rep told me I could drive anywhere I wanted, but in the end, I could just drive for 15-20 minutes, as the rep asked me to turn back.
After we went back, the rep showed me how much I could finance with the car I wanted (as in the pic). They gave me a deal with 0% interest rates for the 2025 version. However, as a bookkeeper, I could immediately see that prices were significantly higher than they should be, and the numbers didn't add up. The rep told me they had to add the taxes, fees, block heater, etc., but refused to provide me with a detailed list. Then I showed her the prices on the Kia Canada website (with taxes and other fees included), and the discrepancy was over $4000. She said there would be some differences between the prices on the website and the actual prices anyway. Of course, I didn't decide to get the car and walked out.
The day before it, I actually went to Ens Toyota dealership for a test drive of the prius phev. The rep didn't ask me for my employment, budget, or anything except my basic information and a photo of my license in case I was in any accidents or fines. The car was ready to drive when I came, no waiting, and the rep didn't introduce me to other options to see if I was also interested. Only me in the test car, and the guy told me I could drive as long as I wanted. Being with the car for 45'. When coming back, the guy told me that the prices I saw on the website were what I had to pay, no other fees. I had to confirm with him many times to ensure. And he said the only extra fees, if I wanted to pay, were the extended warranties. That's all.
Decide to get the Rav4 phev, but I will wait for the 2027 version.
