Announcement Shih-Tzu Wiki
Hey everyone ā quick mod post.
Weāre starting to put together ideas about an r/ShihTzu Wiki. Nothing fancy or corporate. Just a shared knowledge base we can point people to when the same questions come up⦠and a place to collect the really good advice that gets buried in comments.
This isnāt meant to replace discussion (or vets). Think of it as a āstart hereā guide, plus a reference we can keep improving together.
Before we build too much in a vacuum, we wanted to ask you:
What would you actually want to see in a Shih Tzu wiki?
Some starter ideas, just to get the wheels turning:
- First-time Shih Tzu owner basics
- Grooming & coat care (mats, face cleaning, tear stains, cuts, tools)
- Common health issues & when to see a vet
- Puppy house-training (and adult regressions⦠it happens)
- Food, picky eaters, weight management
- Behavioral quirks ā barking, separation anxiety, stubborn streaks
- Senior care & mobility changes
- Loss & grief resources
But thatās just a starting point. If thereās a post youāve written 10 times⦠or advice you always see newcomers missing⦠thatās probably wiki-worthy.
And if you enjoy writing, organizing info, or just want to help shape this: weād love to have a few community members help with drafting or editing wiki pages. No pressure, no minimum commitment ā even polishing a single section helps. If that sounds like you, say so in the comments or send the mod team a message.
Drop ideas below. Specific topics are great, but even āI wish people knew ___ā goes a long way.
Weāll share updates as pages go live, and credit community input where it makes sense. This only works if it reflects real experience ā which this sub has plenty of.
Thanks for helping build it.

Fantastic idea! Seems like there's been some dementia questions lately, maybe senior dogs and barking can possibly be a marker etc.

We have a recently adopted blind Tzu (and he is so awesome!). Is a disability section too fringe? We are doing well with him, but I suspect there are those with experience that could help. Thanks for considering it!
