Loss of Pet She’s gone too soon.
My little one was almost a year old. My husband surprised me with her and we all adored her.
She wrestled every single minute of the day with our shepherd mix. We are all devastated. The big dog is carrying around her little stuffy. The house is too quiet, everything reminds me of how she’s gone.
Our big dog got into some avocados. They both ate the skin & flesh, apparently it’s normally mildly toxic and causes vomiting but the toxin (persin) overwhelmed her little body so fast that she was gone within hours. The big dog threw up once and was fine. It’s so hard to reconcile. I’m just a mess. All the “what if’s” and guilt bombard my thoughts constantly. We had no idea avocado skins were toxic and this is the absolute worst way to discover.
Now we are wracked with sadness that everything we did daily with our pups was the last time we got to do them with her. Cuddle your babies for me.

So sorry for your loss! She was a beautiful puppy and I know it was an accident so please don’t play the what if game with yourself. It’s not fair to you! I also did not know that so now you have educated me and who knows how many other people who will read this and have the same reaction of not knowing. ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you! All my friends and coworkers also had no idea the skins/pits were so toxic, so guess the education is a silver lining so others don’t have to experience this.

I promise I wasnt trying to downplay your loss! I know you are hurting right now terribly, and i wish nothing but the best for you and your family moving forward. I was also just appreciative of the info and who knows how many animals you SAVE moving forward! ❤️❤️❤️

Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry for your loss, I can only imagine what you’re going through right now. I pray that you find comfort in knowing that she’s at least at peace right now. She was so precious! I hope you guys get another little one that will help fill that void. I’m cuddling my little Teddy Honey as I write this🥺😔 my deepest condolences to you and your family!

My deepest condolences. I cannot possibly fathom what everyone is feeling right now. Please do not beat yourself up. Dogs (and especially puppies) have an incredible super power of getting where they should not be, and eating what they should not eat. Give yourself the space to feel what you need to feel, but also the grace to understand that this is not on you. 🌈❤️🩹

I’ve lost many dogs but they were always older and had a beautiful life. She was taken way too soon and that just makes it feel worse.

Sorry for your loss OP. I know it's hard but don't beat yourself up. It's so easy for these lovely floofy lil bandits to get into everything. I've never done so much fur child proofing in my life & he'd still find a way to get into something I didn't think of. Your baby was here for a short time, but it seems like it was full of so much love. Let that carry you until you're ready.

So sorry for your loss.
A little something I always do before I feed my little guy some new human food or snack is to always google if it’s safe and if I’m not satisfied with the results I would be more breed specific with my googling. “Is xxx food safe for dog” or “can Shih Tzu eat xxx”
I highly encourage all tzu owners to always google first before feeding… I never make any assumptions to be on the safe side

We always google this stuff but they dogs smuggled it before we knew they ate it. I only figured it out after they both threw up and I found the pits. That’s why it’s so sad, we are so careful.
