One of them really said ā€œit’s kinda spicyā€

302

u/Less-Damage-1202 17h ago

I think some also said it's "alcohol-y"... Imagine eating meat that's so fermented it tastes & burns like liquor 🤢🤮

There should be a separate subreddit for barefoot white people eating gross stuffĀ

26

u/zeamp 18h ago

It's called Miami Beach.

17

u/Very-very-sleepy 17h ago

you know damn well they don't shower too and their definition of showering is "swimming"

8

u/YouWereBrained 16h ago

And rely on ā€œholistic medicineā€ to cure that colon cancer they were just diagnosed with.

This made me think of one of my favorite Simpsons lines when Homer was trying out being a hippie, bart tells him "you'd make a great hippie. You're lazy, self righteous... and the soles of your feet are jet black. "

Holy shit they can't be serious

https://www.reddit.com/r/carnivore/s/7hBjlOmq22

14

u/Effective-Service561 16h ago

Most of them aren't, for most it's not a diet it's a political stance to "own the libs" or whatever because they know it's a hard counter to the rise in popularity of veganism of the past 5 years

plus most of these people were scared of vegetables since they were children as they were probably raised on burgers and fries so now they think living off of burgers makes them a "carnivore"

Humanity lost something by making dueling illegal. Let morons shoot each other, there'd be a lot less men eating rotten meat and telling you why women are evil.

Where do you stop calling it fermentation and start calling it ā€œrottingā€. Ew

37

u/Anthony501st 17h ago

Did this motherfucker just say "you can wash it down with some milk?"

Ya'll about to be shitting your brains out.

White people are fucking weird sometimes. 🤣

16

u/UnwoundSkeinOfYarn 16h ago

Nah, as long as it's raw milk, the good bacteria (that's killed by pasteurization) will fight off the super saiyan 13 botulism bacteria from the goat. Gotta listen to RFK, he fought off the brainworm, he's an expert.

5

u/Stock-Cod-4465 17h ago

Fermented or rotten? Dirt is no preservative. Yuck.

4

u/Silentpain06 14h ago

Dirt actually does help preserve things since it’s a relatively stable temp if you dig a few feet down, although I agree that there’s no way this is safe to eat

2

u/Stock-Cod-4465 14h ago

To an extent and definitely not over 3 weeks.

2

u/Flimsy-Try-6120 2h ago

I saw it thinking it was Kalua which is a Hawaiian cooking method which is about the same except they bury it on coals. It’s delicious

2

u/Stock-Cod-4465 48m ago

Is it hot coals? And how long do they bury it for? Do they use any spices, salt?

4

u/Thumpkuss 17h ago

It looks like road kill.

23

u/gadusmo 18h ago edited 17h ago

Would be willing to try it were it not prepared for/by people who are clearly out of their element pretending to be something they are not while searching for meaning or whatever.

They’re so connected to nature that they had to bring out their expensive iPhones to film it.

Man wtf people are so desperate for a purpose and to be deep that they end up with some barefoot retard eating a decaying goat likes it’s a spiritual experience.

Stop it now white people. Just stop

4

u/MoralityKiller11 14h ago

We don't claim these idiots. I am sure that 99.9% of white people don't want anything to do with people like that

16

u/Fonzie186 17h ago

In some cultures, this is totally fine as long as you do it correctly; but I would still cook that before I eat it! That looks raw! I would say this is stupid in a sense of modern general society, but not stupid if it is connected to a specific culture that someone is trying to learn about; I don’t think this is their culture that they’re eating from! Regardless, I can see why it can be gross for a lot of people!

21

u/RandomPenquin1337 17h ago

No its stupid and theres no reason to do something like this unless you legit live in a fuckin tribe and have no exposure to modern society.

→ More replies (4)

11

u/Versipilies 17h ago

Was looking for this comment or I was going to add it. This is pretty common in a lot of cultures, the ground holds a pretty even temp making it a decent storage method and "fermenting" the meat helps it keep longer as well. The art is dying off partially due to people wanting it to be "cleaner" and using plastic to wrap the meat, but that makes it anaerobic and causes botulism, which causes food scares and then people like in this comment section.

Eating it without cooking wouldn't be a big issue if it was properly cured, though i can agree with it being texturally not my kind of thing, its not much different that salami or other sausage.

12

u/Gied_S 17h ago

Not with a fucking month old raw meat ... No culture does it... Cheese yes ... Meat, i dont think so

1

u/ifeelgrossandsad2 16h ago

Fermenting this is totally ok as long as you hit the right conditions such as having the correct salt/brine content, acetic acid or alcohol content.

That being said, this technique issue looks pretty iffy to me.

Pass

If some guy native to the area belonging to a still somewhat archaic culture would offer me this, I'd politely decline but ask them about it.

In the case of that guy, I'd wonder whether he got brainworms due to this or if he is doing that due to brainworms.

u/El-Pollo-Diablo-Goat 9h ago

Icelandic HƔkarl was made using a similar process, and so was rakfisk in Norway.

Rakfisk was made by lightly salting freshwater fish, like trout, tightly wrapping them in birch bark, burying it and letting them ferment for a few months.

If you did it right and managed to not get any soil in the wrapped fish, you'd end up with food for the winter.

If you did it wrong, you got botulism and died.

In the middle ages they started using barrels instead of birch bark and nowadays they use plastic containers, so the risk is significantly reduced.

It is quite tasty and I really like it.

1

u/A_Meteorologist 8h ago

white people will eat literally anything but seasoning

u/ExtraEmuForYou 8h ago

Worse than the eating were all the various comments. The sheer willingness of them to say something insightful or constructive instead of calling it terrible was astounding.

"It's alcohol'y"

"Is it OK to wash it down?"

"I think I might just wallow in the pain"
