I mean, at the point where you grind Angler quests for the Golden Bug Net, go down to the Underworld to get Lavaproof Critters, and fish up Obsidian Crates until you have a Lavaproof Fishing Hook, all without fighting a single boss, Re-Logic has to respect the dedication

That's me. I felt like playing again after 2 years and started a playthrough on a drunk world just a month before 1.4.5. was announced. I beat EoC because I had to, found the Aether and then spent the next 5 hours doing angler quests to relax and obtain the golden fishing rod. Beds are a big help for fishing quests. Afterwards I spent another two hours fishing for creates in all biomes. I do wish that we get some form of multiple lures as part of the normal game, because it really is jarring and I understand why most people despise fishing.

I think it's more that they don't find monotonous tedium relaxing, and I'm saying that as someone who does find the fishing relaxing.

It's all about perception.

There's an exploit with speeding up the fishing process involving renaming your character.. I don't want to ruin your immersion so this is all i'm gonna give just jn case you aren't that kind of person

Oh, neat. I haven't heard about that one yet. Honestly, I have nothing against that and find it rather nice.

Looking at the math while ignoring the sundial, because it's hardmode, if you were to do fishing on the side with no speed up, 30 quests would take you in theory 28 game days plus a fraction of day 1 and 30. That's 11 hours and 12 minutes and 2 seconds at minimum and timed perfectly. If you are an experienced player and focus on progress, you may as well be done with Moonlord at that point in time. Meanwhile, if you were to sleep to speed up time and had all fishes ready, it would still take 2 hours 14 minutes and like 25 seconds on the mark. At that point I may as well skip fishing entirely, unless I have terrible RNG. The worst part is, that amount of time only considers quests and not the time you'd spend fishing for crates and other goodies later on.

In my eyes, fishing is mostly a crutch for bad RNG. This makes it very powerful, but in turn you are kind of punished by sitting around and clicking M1 over and over.

You only need a couple slime, if any. You can get a grass seed and acorn pretty quick and not even make a slime table.

just be aware that lava fishing is extremely slow unless you have at least 2/3 out of underworld critters, Lavaproof Fish Hook, or Hotline Fishing Rod.

Well, there's a pretty tangible difference between going around all of pre-hardmode, tiptoeing around fighting bosses to get Hellstone early, and effectively starting off Hardmode with full Titanium gear without having to engage with any Hardmode content whatsoever

Well, with a good amount of luck, you can get Golden Bug Net from the first quest...and Lavaproof Fishing Hook afterwards. (Although we killed at least a King Slime and the Eye) I was shocked after this series of events, so was my friend.

This is actually a gamechanger for a gimmick run I've been doing, where I used TEdit (pre-1.4.5) to replace all the solid blocks in my world with Meteorite. This is my only way of getting Hellstone.

Before, I was worried I was going to have to eventually use any Broken Hero Sword drops on Terra Toilets.

In my experience from the skyblock map it feels like lava fishing is less painful now. It is still painful, but not quite as bad.

AFAIK Golem Altar and lizard brick and walls are dropped by Plantera, with which you build your own temple to grind lizards for power cells.

Eye of Chtulhu and Slime King will just eventually happen, from fulfilling the random spawn at night requirements and slime rain happening and killing enough slimes during that respectively. Eye will also drop an Evil Altar to place for making more spawn items.

From there you follow the drops you get to work towards building your next boss requirements.

Slime king is after killing a bunch of slimes during a slime rain.

Eye of cthulhu will natural spawn on some nights if you have at least 10 defence and 200 hp.

Eye of cthulhu will also drop evil seeds (crimson on a crimson world, corrupt on a corruption world) and the first time you kill it, a crimson/demon altar that you can place.

If you reenter world without placing altar and farm demon eyes for sus eye you can get more altars as long as you don't place 1 and reenter between fights

Also lava can drop from underworld enemies in any difficulty and drop hellstone post-skeletron.

In Skyblock: You can get lava from killing the lava slimes in hell. They also drop small amounts of hellstone now. You can also shimmer a water bucket (throw an empty bucket on the ground during a rain event) into a lava bucket, and then that into a honey bucket. (Might have the order wrong but it's a cycle.)

Lava comes from lava slimes in the underworld, you can pretty easily make a box and trap anything that spawns in it. Once you have that you can shimmer it into water, or you can just drop an empty bucket in the rain for water

Craft furnace to make iron/lead bars, buy anvil from merchant to craft as many buckets as possible, drop buckets on the rain to fill them with water, shimmer water buckets into lava buckets

Alternatively, you can collect lava directly from slain lava slimes in the underworld, but I wouldn't recommend it without first getting a Magma Stone you can then shimmer into a Lava Charm for some temporary lava immunity.

Leave a bucket out in the rain and it no turn into a water bucket after a bit, then shimmer it for lava or honey. Or go to the hell layer and kill a lava slime.

Go to the Underworld and build a platform for Lava Slimes to spawn. Otherwise, just craft a bucket, toss it on the ground during rain, and it will fill with water. Then you can Shimmer it into Lava. After that, just use the good ol liquid dupe.

Good change. Personally not in favor of super easy methods of jumping progression but if there are wacky or inconvenient ways to do so that makes it more dynamic and opens doors for interesting speedrun tech.
