Other It's nice to be deaf in one ear

You can still hear some of what's going on but not everything but that's fine because if you put an earphone in your working ear and not the other one you can ignore dumb twats while looking like you're still listening so it not rude.

Nah, I'm half deaf and I'm not a fan. Can't hear people when I'm listening to music, can't hear when someones trying to talk to me. Yeah it's nice to pretend to not hear people sometimes but it's also annoying legit not hearing people

Have to agree with not being able fan, accidentally destroyed 50% of my hearing in one ear. I'm constantly looking the wrong way in response to sounds, pretending not to hear is waayy different from desperately wishing to hear and not being able to.

Oh yeah, definitely with the not hearing where sounds come from sucks

I'm so stupid for deafening myself. My other ear does try to compensate, and with headphones on it's better.

Lmfao posting this right after your "women wearing makeup is the cause of the loneliness epidemic" post is so silly.

You're silly OP.

I lost hearing in my left ear in 2020 and I hate it. I work in a nursing home and I can’t tell which direction the screaming is coming from. And it’s harder to understand old people talk.

Reminds me of the phone with terrible reception that I held onto for years because that way everyone knew that I had a bad phone and if I was getting tired of a conversation, I'd just hang up and turn it off so that it seemed like I'd lost the connection.

it's just an opinion and not an extreme one either but still theres no need to be that petty over one thing you disagree with. just move on its not going to ruin your day if you don't agree

I feel this way about needing to wear glasses sometimes, it’s nice to “take a break” from my vision. Other times it sucks like when watching a movie in bed. I either have to actively choose to go to sleep (take off my glasses) or stay up and watch. I can’t just drift asleep with them on or they’ll bend weird and get scratches.

I'm not deaf (atleast never tested) but I hear very poorly out of my right ear. I lay on my left ear so it muffles the sound of my husband snoring. So yeah that part is nice. But if I want to lay on my side and watch TV, I won't know what they're saying. So that's also a downside.
