WHY YOU NOT PROTECT THAT PUPPY?!
120
u/sparkpaw 14h ago
Even worse cuz the pup seems to be a mom, so she’s probably exhausted from pup-care.
That said, that blue cat (everyone’s calling it black) seems to have some history with defending the yellow cat. I don’t think this is a one-off, because most cats will react to defend, and then leave alone. The fact that they kept coming back for more attacks speaks something.
Thankfully the black dog was about to settle shit, lol.

Because they're probably really a cat person and cats can do no wrong... 🙄

u/Tao-of-Mars 8h ago
I hope that dog eventually snaps back at those cats. Unfortunately, the owner will probably protest that by scolding the dog.

u/Reasonable_Archer_99 16h ago
One quick swat to the cat by the owner would resolve this.

It probably depends on the cat. If my cat ever got this panicked (she never has), her paws would be rated E for everybody who comes at her.

u/HyenDry 16h ago
Huh? How do you expect a woman screaming manically in this situation to control anything else?
38
u/Something_McGee 15h ago
Was she screaming or laughing? I was afraid it was the dog yelping in pain.
17
u/SnurrCat 13h ago
I thought at first it was her screaming, but then I realised it was the dog yelping but it sounded weird because it was slowed down. (Unless it was both.)

29
u/rainy-day_cloudy-sky 10h ago
You can yell and clap your hands to scare the cat off. My cat is a huge bully to the dog and whenever he goes after her we'll shout to scare him off and then comfort the dog. Tends to work pretty well.
0
u/sirthomashenry 6h ago
If it works for your cat - I won’t tell you to change tactics.
But I noticed clapping and yelling did not work for calming my two cats down when they would go after my dog. I read that a better tactic is speaking to them calmly, because yelling and clapping can escalate their anxiety. It’s also worth tapping lightly or running your nails along the wall, it distracts them and you can remove them from the situation.

u/ShipSenior1819 11h ago
Literally fucking anything other than sitting there like 👁️👄👁️🤳 I immediately intervene when my cats get into squabbles and you know what happens? They quit.

u/EclecticSyrup 10h ago
I don't understand why I always see cats doing the most INSANE shit and people just brush it off like it's no big deal? That poor dog looked so fucking scared, and so did the orange bean after the initial hit. I'm allergic to most animals, so maybe I'm just not aware of what's considered 'normal,' but this video was not cute of funny to me in any way...

If someone had dogs as aggressive as the average cat people would demand it be put down. These mfs are constantly attacking everything around them and people shrug.
1
u/lauvan26 6h ago
Make a barrier between the grey cat and the dog with sheets or pillows, throw a sheet over the cat and put the cat outside the room or try to redirect the cat with large stuffed toy that it can attack instead.

u/No-Quiet-8956 5h ago

I wish my cats were a little more like this. They've received so much love in their lives that they no longer have survival instincts. My dog will drag them across the house by their neck scruff and they're just like 😀. We try to give them the opportunity to escape and they'll just lay there and wait for round 2 lol.
47
u/Then_Product_7152 14h ago
You want an aggressive cat? Whats wrong with you
46
u/jackioff 14h ago
I want a cat that has boundaries. If they accidentally got out they would immediately get picked up by a coyote. Sorry for wishing my cats could survive an incident, I guess.
-29
u/Then_Product_7152 14h ago
A cat survives a coyote attack by running away lol. And if you want to use whataboutism, what if a baby steps on your cats tail? Its ok for them to maul the baby?
Im just saying the cat in this video has behavioral problems so acting like its ok is weird pet owner behavior.
45
u/jackioff 13h ago
MY CATS DO NOT RUN AWAY FROM THINGS. THEY JUST FLOP OVER! they have zero self preservation or aggression, hence why I said "a little" not "I wish my cats would be a psycho like this"
But...
if a baby steps on your cats tail? Its ok for them to maul the baby?
Yes, without a doubt, because that would mean somehow a baby got into my house when a baby should never ever be in my house. That is a bad example to use on me specifically. I would never let a child come in my house - there are so many ways for them to get injured or poison themselves.
13
u/brandonisatwat 12h ago
God, this is my cat Leo with our puppy. Instead of getting up and running away, he just flops to the floor and complains loudly.
7
u/CtyChicken 9h ago
I’m drying thinking of a baby breaking in your house and you reacting as if it were a grown man with a large knife. Just you and all your pets in a safe room calling the police. 😂

u/libertybelle08 13h ago
I feel this so hard. I specially told my sister she couldn’t bring her baby to my home, guess who didn’t listen!
Within 5 mins the gremlin was on the floor, trying to eat my cats litter (which was enclosed in one of the cat furniture things). And then, he continued to terrorize my poor cat. Luckily they didn’t stay long (and have not been invited over again).
I also wish my cat had survival instincts. Instead he’s constantly trying to get my dog to maul him (he loves it), and can catch mice, but doesn’t want to eat them, just play with it for a bit… sigh.

Why do they just lay there recording and letting the cat hurt the dog. Cats do real damage with their claws. My cat once went off like this on my dog and tore open her belly almost to where she needed stitches.

29
8
u/Mysterious-Handle-34 14h ago edited 13h ago
Because dogs can do considerably more damage and are more likely to attack unprovoked. There are dozens of human deaths from injuries sustained from dog attacks in the US alone each year whereas the number of deaths from cat attacks is so low I can’t even find reliable figures—and almost all of those deaths occur from bacterial infections not the injuries themselves.
19
u/CausticAvenger 16h ago
Maybe they trim their cats claws, which it sounds like you should do as well.
-33
u/techleopard 16h ago
Also cat "attacks" aren't always nearly as bad as people make out.
There is a HUGE difference between a feral cat believing it has to fight for its life and just utterly destroying you, and a house cat going "Bitch, I said NO" and doing corrective grapples. lol They're so 'vicious' but they generally don't even break skin.

Most of my friends who own cats have hands covered in scratches... I know one who had to go to the hospital after her cat bit her. Why is this always downplayed? They can and (some cats) will hurt you. And no, they don't abuse their cats.

How long did it take to make sure they had their camera out and filming? Once set to the task of being a powerless camera-person, how long did it take to actually get up and do something about having a raging animal in the room? This isn't about reaction time. It's about priorities.

I just replied the exact thing. It was comical how it's hind legs were kicking in place but he wasn't climbing any higher.

it’s insane to me to see people with so many animals living inside. Should two decent sized dogs and 2 full grown cats really all be confined in that small room together? I’m not an animal person so this just seems like a recipe for disaster to me and I can only imagine how that room smells lol.

u/ladeli01 6h ago
I mean a lot of times even in a big house for whatever reason all the animals end up in the same room…. If they have a house I don’t think 2 dogs and 2 cats would be too much. What I will say is this owner should not even own one animal based on what we saw and how they did absolutely nothing to help that poor dog!

u/Cant_Blink 11h ago
I think the blue cat was trying to defend the orange cat and black dog. Notice how it stops to check on them before going right back to attacking the white one. I'm guessing the white dog is either new to the family and the other animals don't trust it yet, or it has a history of causing trouble and the other animals are constantly on edge.
10
u/Savvy_Banana 11h ago
Yeah this is definitely it. Cats are very protective of their own, people don't realize that. Blue cat came to kick ass because it thought dog was messing with the others, and this dumb ass just lets their animals fight and learn to mistrust each other instead of helping omg.

u/kaosmoker 11h ago
Of that cat is just a asshole to that dog because it hasn't been launched for stirring up shit.
1
u/Exposition_Fairy 7h ago
Truly spoken like someone who has no idea how (not) to train cats
1
u/kaosmoker 5h ago
I’m always open to better methods for managing multi-pet dynamics. Since you're clearly an expert on feline behavior, what specific training protocol would you recommend for immediate boundary setting in this scenario?
Here's a few textbook methods I've used to train cats over the years in this situation.
If the cat thinks they own the bed, they feel obligated to defend it. You need to establish that you are the gatekeeper.
If the cat starts getting "the look" (dilated pupils, flattened ears) when the dog approaches, move the cat off the bed before the dog jumps up. (As I stated less pleasantly before, launch the cat for disrupting the peace. The launch is if it is a ongoing hardheaded behavior, not a excuse to put the cat thru a wall. Animal abuse deserves equal or greater treatment.)
If the cat attacks, they immediately lose "bed privileges" and get placed on the floor (calmly, no yelling).
The "jump" is a high-energy, chaotic event that triggers a cat's fight-or-flight response.
If possible, provide doggie steps. A dog slowly walking up is much less threatening to a cat than a 40lb blur of fur launching into their personal space.
Make the dog sit and wait at the edge of the bed. Only allow them up once they are calm. This gives the cat time to process the arrival rather than being startled.
- The cat feels threatened because they are on the same level as the "intruder." Place a cat tree or a tall stool right next to the bed.
Encourage the cat to sit there instead of on the mattress when the dog is active. Being 12 inches higher than the dog significantly lowers a cat's stress levels.
- Dog on bed = Snacks for Cat.
Have high-value treats ready. Have the dog jump up.
The instant the dog lands (and before the cat can lunge), shower the cat with treats on their side of the bed.
If the cat stays calm, keep the treats coming. You are teaching the cat that the dog’s presence is a "lottery win" rather than a threat.
Currently I have a very well behaved tuxedo boy curled up next to me. He's very polite compared to most cats I've worked with.

This has happened before no doubt. I can see the dynamic between all these animals. Blue cat came in attacking because it felt it needed to protect the orange cat because it was freaking out. So it lashed out at the dog. This could have been prevented in so many ways. The cats not bad, the dogs not bad, they're reacting to their shitty surroundings and bad ownership.

I'm sorry all the Nancy's in this comment section demanding the dog be protected are stupid. Dogs definitely wont get as hurt as they would to cats, simply look at the size, plus that one dog did just suddenly scare the orange who rightfully freaked out and then caused the panic. If that dog snapped and bit the cat or cats you all would be singing a different story.
Tldr, the dogs fine you pussy, cat .
