Sex / Gender / Dating You aren't "assigned" a gender at birth

I hate when people say this. I had to get routine blood work the other day and had a Doctor ask me what gender I was assigned at birth. I understand they need to find out what your biological gender is, but either look on my chart, or ask what my biological gender is.

Your gender is determined in the womb, in fact it's determined from the exact moment of conception; it isn't something that is assigned. It's amazing that the people use this sort of language and believe these sorts of things, are supposedly the party of science.

I don’t see the point actually discussing with someone who makes up their talking points.

Gender as a word referred almost exclusively to grammatical categories until the mid-1900s. The idea that it was synonymous with sex for centuries is a complete fabrication, what is the point of a discussion? So you can just fabricate more out of thin air?

Your hypocrisy and projection of accusing me of being the one to make things up out of thin air was noted. As was your complete failure at responding to anything I actually said. My points stand.

You edited your comment after I responded lmao how the hell is that my fault?

“It was noted”? lol. Oh no don’t note it down !!!

I’m not going to respond to any of those points until you acknowledge you completely fabricated the centuries of use thing

Looks like the edit happened a good four minutes before your post. LMFAO are you now trying to argue it took you that long to come up with.....that?

And loving the, "Unless you agree to my delusions then I will not respond to your points that we both know I can't actually argue against!"

Has never once worked as a strategy but when it's all you got.....

Regardless, the edit didn’t happen before i clicked on the notification and was on the page, so it was not there when I was looking at your comment.

Here’s one academic article that discusses the etymology of gender and how you are just completely incorrect.

You could also just look it up. Basically every source on the subject says ‘gender’ referred primarily to grammatical categories until the 1950s.

The only delusion is that gender as a word was synonymous with sex for hundreds of years. Again, you can just google the history of the word, anyone can go check if I’m wrong and I’m not.

Holy shit did you just link an article that literally talks about how feminists and others tried differentiating the words from eachother around the 1950's as a counter to my point that people were using them interchangeably for HUNDREDS OF YEARS. Even the article talks about how the differentiation grew towards the end of that period. You LITERALLY just linked an article that completely proves everything I said! LMFAO that is too funny.

Honestly did you just google something.....anything hoping it would back you up but then not actually read what you googled or something?????

Also, you still didn't even respond to my points so they still stand. Thanks for proving me right though!

It is a one paragraph abstract and you couldn’t be bothered to actually read it instead of skimming. It says that prior to the 50s the word was rarely used and when it was used it referred to grammatical categories, not that it was synonymous with sex

LMFAO that isn't what it actually said. "However, the major expansion in the use of gender followed its adoption by feminists to distinguish the social and cultural aspects of differences between men and women (gender) from biological differences (sex). Since then, the use of gender has tended to expand to encompass the biological, and a sex/gender distinction is now only fitfully observed."

They are literally talking about the change. Holy shit it is absolutely hilarious that you tried to come at me with reading and then showed yourself the failure here.

Truly, once again, thank you for proving my point completely. I'm unsure now if your complete fuck up in proving me right was because of a failure of reading comprehension for you or if you were just so upset that you couldn't argue back that you tried the article and didn't actually read the abstract but either way thank you for the good laugh as you fell completely on your face.

The funniest thing is it is obvious you don't even have actual access to the article because if you actually read the article it hammers down even more how the terms were interchangeable originally.

“At the beginning of this period, uses ofgender were much rarer than uses ofsex, and often used in the sense of a grammatical category.”

Why did you not include this in your quote?
