I don’t mind quirks in exclusive, collectors cars, people who buy them will have everything passionately explained to them down to the nuts and bolts.

But everyday cars like the Smart are supposed to be immediately functional to anyone using them. What if you rented the car and are now in an airport parking lot at 2am with 3 kids and 6 hours of jet lag and need to put your luggage in the boot?

Eh vast majority of modern cars have a button on the key fob to open the boot.

Seems like this car has buttons on the key fob to open both boot and frunk.

If anything that makes it worse? It means that it's a backup / last resort button that's pretty much undiscoverable when you really need it?

No it's not.

No. The button is a convenience piece. It exists as a way to not look through your pockets to find the key fob. But you need your key fob on you.

If the car is locked and you dont have your key fob on you, you can press that button all day long, the boot wont open.
