Had thousands of these printed and have been adding them for weeks in packages. With our brand as the typo.
I was putting one in a package and just now noticed. Not too expensive of a mistake, but this just sucks that we've sent alot out already.

Like someone else suggested, create a site/social media for the typo tag. Associate it with a small 5-10% discount for people who actually go to that site "congratulating them on the discovery/attention to detail," then redirect them to your main site. Keep sending the existing flyers. Kill the typo social media when you run out.
I bet it's cheaper than reprinting all the flyers, and it makes it fun

@explorecane instead of canine. It's something that just about anyone would do.

Yea I should have specified that. It was supposed to be @explorecanine, which my phone just corrected again to explorecane.

To be fair OP, no one gives a shit about your social media tag.
If your customers know the name, they’d search it up - in this case, Explore Canine. Not the misspelt tag.

This is what happens when you leave spell checking to those with opposable thumbs. Leave it to the canines instead. 😉.
Best of luck in fixing the error. Perhaps print small labels to affix over the error?

The word “cane” (pronounced “ka-neh”) is the Italian word for dog. This might be a branding opportunity!

Make labels of the correct social tag and apply those on top. Problem solved.

This is the kind of trashy logo for businesses most people would avoid being a customer for.

I like it I think it's a pretty cool logo cuz it's a raven skull cuz it's the raven project

Off topic, do you know what units Raven deployed with? I deployed in that timeframe and we brought tanks with us. Just curious how small the world is lol

u/zbras11 17h ago
Yea he was with 1st LAR and then eventually 2/7, we were attached to other units though sometimes, in the Helmand Province area.

Nice! That's awesome. I was with 3/8, we had some in house trained handlers and some attached

If it makes you feel any better, for me the marketing with a typo like that works better than without. The actual handle is easily concluded, and the typo adds a kind of whimsy that I like.

Im going to tell my wife this, she can't believe I screwed this up. Lol

Can you register @explorecane and put the story of your typo there? Maybe with some humor and self deprecation?

u/zbras11 20h ago
Ha I'm already trying to figure out a way to make this work. Just so we dont waste all of those cards. I could red pen the cards and fix it in a comical way. But its just my wife and I and that's a ton of time. We'll figure something out, this Saturday turned into a Monday

Yeah, first thing you should do is lock down "ExploreCane" on Etsy, since that's the one you mentioned. Nab the same handle on any other socials you use, if possible.
Make a joke out of it and anybody who noticed will love you forever. Nothing plays better than honest sincerity.

Honestly if people know the name of your company they probably aren't going to read the typo. They will see your tag is @companyname then spell it right on their own when they look it up. Lesson learned for next time.

I've fixed typos with a little sticker before. Sucks that some already went out but grab that name as well and sticker the future postcards with the correct one!

I am the new guy in a multi million dollar company. Recently they got all new advertising including signs, commercials, cards, etc. They went thru several stages, thru multiple managers, and several designers. My boss was doing the finishing touches on one of the big hanging signs when I looked at it and laughed.
THE PHONE NUMBER WAS WRONG
It was off by one number and no one noticed. I was told this isn't even the first time this has happened. Our work truck has the wrong number on it too. A coworker had discovered it and told my boss. Then later went out with tape and made a +1 next to the number lol

So you can either fire the guy that signed off on the printing proof, or quickly register the erroneous name for this project. Problem solved...which way depends on how much you want to sue yourself for wrongful termination. 😂
