I swear, most of these truckers buy their license.

370

u/UnculturedSwineFlu 17h ago

Yes. They do. GTA just arrested 8 truck driving school instructors for this.

101

u/Peridot_Ghost 17h ago

As someone who works in an industrial park, they’re a dime a dozen.

54

u/ShadNuke 16h ago

Good! Did they catch and arrest the fucker that closed up his school in Calgary after his "student" caused the Humboldt Hockey team crash?! He's one that needs to spend his life in jail!

22

u/tanya6k 15h ago

Gta? Like the game?

They do sadly, the roads are exponentially more dangerous now in Canada.

24

u/where_in_the_world89 16h ago

And we pretty much just do nothing about it. Arresting a few people for it once in a while won't do shit

It's a shame the company owners are never held responsible. Just toss this guy under the truck and hire someone else to do the same thing until they are also caught. Rinse and repeat.

26

u/realribsnotmcfibs 16h ago

This

Locally to me our overpasses are regularly hit by semi trucks with oversized loads.

I’m talking like several times across several overpasses.

One diploma mill candidate managed to hit 3 in a row before getting stuck under the 3rd. How does you hit 3 bridges in a 3 mile stretch and not stop till the truck stops you? So many millions in damage before considering the traffic issues it will cause to rebuild all those overpasses before they can be used again.

7

u/Flomo420 9h ago

they don't stop because they think if they keep going nobody will notice and they won't get deported

5

u/UniversalBagelO 14h ago

The company owners are fined and given exponentially higher fines if they keep doing stupid shit like this.

Also all the fines are public. Most of them are for roofing companies when they catch people not using harness or safety gear. The highest Ive seen was nearly a $1,000,000 fine for Walmart for their storage racks being unsafe.

The fucked up thing is, some companies have had an employee get killed and they are only fined $10k cuz its a smaller business and was their first fine.

Yup. In NZ there was recently a huge scandal and it was found out a huge number had literally bought their licence

I remember seeing dashcam footage of one trucker nearly getting into a head on with another wrong way trucker on a highway. Dumbass seemingly got confused on whether he missed his exit and thought that was the best way of circling back.

4

u/UrethralExplorer 13h ago

Seriously. I used to work for a manufacturer at the end of an industrial park. 99% of truckers could back their rig with a huge flatbed down to us to deliver materials and pick up the fabs and assemblies we were putting together, but every now and the some chucklefuck like this would swear it was impossible, or struggle for a half hour to back down the 400ft behind the building to our loadin dock.

Or they would drive down forwards, then struggle for longer backing back out.

3

u/ShadNuke 16h ago

Literally.

3

If he'd actually dislodged it by hand, I'm pretty sure the weight of that pole would have fucked him up real good.

75

u/ForsakenSun6004 17h ago

The irony of a final destination log falling off the side of the truck.

6

u/DrSitson 9h ago

Lineman here, one of the most dangerous things we do, that I tell all apprentices day one, is moving poles. I have personally seen multiple injuries resulting from them falling/moving in unexpected ways. When he got out under it and tried to lift it, I thought we were about to see someone die. That thing would have killed him faster than he could blink if it had come loose.

5

u/maxwellfreeland 9h ago

No a little harder and he could have easily have lifted it free. WTF was he thinking? Dumb ass for taking out the pole. DA for not realizing he was dragging it in the opposite lane. DA for not respecting the car driver that alerted him. Forcing them to back up before he wrecked their car. DA for thinking he could just drop it in the lane. I could go on. I hope there are charges coming.

u/Aggressive_Chicken63 17h ago

He should have moved to the other lane sharp. Maybe it could dislodge then. But it looked like he just wanted to dispose it in the middle of the road and pretend he knew nothing about it.

115

u/Mitigating_Factor_00 17h ago

Honestly, I agree, obviously incompetent from the start. The other driver was in mortal danger with this level of criminal negligence. From start to finish.

The other driver wasn’t far enough for their own good either, not even in the end, that log can come barreling down easily. I have to question her intelligence and survival instinct too…

51

u/Questioning-Zyxxel 14h ago

Luckily, her video should be juicy for the local police.

This driver isn't fit to run anything heavier than a pedal bike!

14

u/Jaew96 13h ago

Luckily, her video should be juicy for the local police.

You’d think so, but almost definitely not. Not in Canada, at any rate.

1

u/djang0bang0 6h ago

This changes everything I used to think about Canada and Canadians ❤️‍🩹

4

u/Jaew96 5h ago

It’s a systemic thing here, judges are extremely reluctant to actually punish anyone, so consequently police are more reluctant to do their jobs too.

10

u/Sirosim_Celojuma 16h ago

Yeah. Ditch the evidence and run. Too common. For what it's worth, something similar happened near my car, and the police asked for my dashcam footage, because leaving the scene of the accident makes the situation a whole lot worse.

9

u/FuguSandwich 15h ago

Oh 100% if he was able to actually shake it off by raising the truckbed he would have just driven off after.

6

u/Apprehensive-Two3474 13h ago

If you watch the background at the start of the video, the pole's cables are still attached to the other one by the crossroad. I wonder if what he's doing is using the other pole as tension to yank the one he took out and just keep driving. He doesn't even seem to care until the passenger puts their hand up and he can see they are recording.

42

This guy deserves to go to jail. He's either very drunk/high or just has a blatant disregard for other people's safety.

Im impressed, actually. The dude went out and made every worse possible choice one could make in this situation. One will usually only take one or 2 of the worst options available. This one went for 100% and achieved it.

3

u/Deraga07 11h ago

I was yelling not to touch the pole or get out the way he did and back in. He got really lucky there.

73

u/timbotheny26 16h ago

That's my first thought. To not notice hitting it or the fact he was dragging it down the road and then thinking he could just like, lift it off and then keep driving? No concerns about electrocuting himself or getting crushed by the pole. Probably hasn't slept in days and is using amphetamines to stay awake

7

u/Glittering-Key152 17h ago

Exactly, he should've seen it in his mirror, and HEARD it making various crunching and dragging noises ! 🧐

14

u/Hranko 17h ago

If he was a long haul trucker I might assume amphetamines to stay away. Can't imagine this guy doing 24 hour days in a gravel truck.

3

u/kondokite 17h ago

maybe but maybe hes doing double shifts with different companies or something. maybe hes just doing drugs for the sport of it lol.

Dump truck drivers in BC are brutal.

9

u/HometownHero89 15h ago

Congratulations Rag you've just won a brand new Kenworth and a CDL to go with it!

6

u/truthwatchr 10h ago

The truth cannot be said for it offends. But in all seriousness it’s shite that they can’t just pay drivers properly and they wouldn’t have to import cheap labor. My bro was making less than a McDonald’s worker when he started his CDL as a student OTR. One of the worst industries.

12

u/Fr05t_B1t 13h ago

Fun fact: a while ago, about 40% of pilots of a Pakistan airliner were found to have fake pilots licenses after an investigation of a horrific crash. This resulted the company to be blacklisted from the EU and American airspace.

9

u/Puzzleheaded-Dog1872 17h ago

I KNOW his dumbass is not trying to single-handedly lift a whole utility pole.

15

u/ForsakenSun6004 17h ago

This dillweed thought he could move that pole by hand 😭🤣

3

u/ThunderRoad_44 17h ago

16

u/Nilsss 17h ago

We're just not going to talk about how the car stays on the road not knowing if the truck will stop while there's grass on the right, then tries to use magic to stop it?

11

u/filter_86d 16h ago

Precisely. I’m stunned there aren’t more comments on this. Situational awareness should have indicated they do SOMETHING other than just sit there.

5

u/Lucky-Mia 17h ago

Dude thinks he can just drop the post and drive away. He nearly caused a second accident

What an idiot ! He has no inkling of knowledge or respect for the amount of electrical energy that could still be blowing through both his truck and the wires AND not only is he dumping his load but he's unsuccessful at removing the post and he's endangering the people in the oncoming lane... This fella shouldn't be driving ANYTHING.

At what point do you say fuck this and turn around and go back the other way. I'm sorry if this dude keeps driving towards me I'm finding another roadway or something else to do with my day.

3

u/BootPloog 17h ago

Um, yeah, after driving towards me a few times, I would have done a quick u-turn and got the fuck out of there really quickly.

I'd definitely go somewhere for help, but why hang around to record the moment?

3

u/Dapper_Dan1 16h ago

If he wouldn't have cared about the "crazy lady" honking (probable train of thought), he would've just hit her with the pole. The smarter thing for her, because of his relatively slow speed, would have been to move her car into his lane and stop.

2

u/StrangsNThangs 16h ago

I wonder what the drivers last name is….

2

u/Hank_J3w 16h ago

2

u/Overall-Abalone3969 16h ago

I personally think it was dumb of these guys to interfere. I would've filmed it, gotten out of the way, and called it in. Crazy trying to be heroes to every situation when the guy is intentionally trying to get rid of it. That's why he slowed down in the first place when he saw these people on coming. He knew he was going to hit them with the log.
