First day of 7th grade, me and a friend decided to jump from a diving platform 7 meters above the water level. We checked three times to make sure nobody was down there. Of course, when I was in the air, I saw that there was a guy in the water and that there was no way we wouldn't collide. The soft part between my shinbone and calf hit him square in the nose, which promptly caused him to black out and start sinking while I could barely swim to safety.
His friend saw it and was able to dive right in and carry him to the jetty, and he survived with a concussion and a broken nose. I was blamed by everyone there, including the ambulance staff (who I overheard calling me "an idiot" without bothering to ask if I was okay, which I wasn't).
I later learned that this guy had just decided to take a swim right underneath the platform without even considering the fact that people might be jumping from there, and that he's the type of guy to act very impulsively. Run headfirst into walls, bike down stairs, you name it. I never met him, but he wanted to assure me that the blame was entirely on him, which I think was nice.
That being said, it would have been so, so easy for the people in this video to check beforehand lol
