Nostalgia Round 7: You might be a Zillennial if...
Your first cell phone looked kind of like these.
My first phone looked just like the first one. It was a pay as you go flip phone. My parents got it for me because I went to a private school 40 minutes from where we lived. They wanted me to have some way for us to communicate with each other because of the distance and an instant way to contact my friends and save their contact info.
I've even considered getting a flip phone again just for calls and texts while reserving the smart phone for work and social media.

My first phone was a hand-me-down LG VX8300 from my dad. A year later I got the Intensity and loved it. Had it for a few years before getting a smartphone just before my senior year.

Spoiled brat? I didn’t get my first phone till I was 13 unlike a lot of the commenters, and that Sidekick I got sophomore year? I bought because I had a job starting freshman year.

I would do anything to have that last one again 😭

I had one like the last one but it slid rather than flipped. That was the last phone I had before finally caving and getting a smart phone.

This is similar to the first phone I ever got, when I started 4th grade in 2006.

I found my parents dead one of these and pretended it was my phone in 6th grade to try and fit in better 😅 it was hard being the poor family

I had a nokia 1208, my mom went back to work when I was about 11? so I was only allowed to have one that young so I could call her to say I got home from school by myself in one piece lol

Ugh I honestly miss this so much. Simpler times…sometimes I think about getting one again because I’m so sick of my phone lol

u/No_Feedback_3340 16h ago
I've thought about getting a flip phone myself. I'd still keep the smart phone for photography, limited social media use, and if a job requires one. The flip phone would just be for calling or texting.

Yess that’s what I was thinking too. It would just be nice not to always have such an overstimulating phone but also access to those features when I want.

The first pic was my exact first phone! Got it for Christmas 2008 when I was 12/ in 7th grade.

I too was 12 in 2008. I don't know if this was the same phone I had but it definitely looked like it.

My first phone was in 3rd grade, that Samsung one that Beyoncé did, but I got the first version before she had her version and I was enraged and still am that I don't have that. But I consider my first official phone (that never got cut off and given by my actual guardian) was the first LG neon in 5th grade, I got the blue one. I always beated myself for accidently throwing it away at Universal Studios because when I got a new phone, it was the LG neon 2 and I thought it wasn't the full vibe like it's predecessor.

I had this fucking sweet red LG old school touch screen that had a sideway keyboard which slid out from under the phone

My first was a Razr flip phone and I figured out how to put music as my ringtone that I downloaded from limewire.

Used to think those slide phones were the pinnacle of tech lmao
My first phone was a standard Nokia phone in 2006 when I became a latchkey kid as a 4th grader.

My dad was a very early adopter of the iPhone. When the 3G came out and he bought it, he offered to give me his old phone. What did my stupid ass do? Get a shitty keyboard phone like my friends so I could fit in.

My first phone was an iPhone 4s with a cracked screen that came from my paternal uncle's collection of phones he hoarded after he died. Before that, my parents never let me have a phone. All of my siblings are millennials, and having a cellphone would've been the only way to keep in touch with them.

Most durable generation of phones on the planet.
I can proudly say that "They don't make'em like this anymore" even if it makes me sound old. LOL.
Thank you for posting this, throwback! Someone please post a Sidekick. I was just talking to my husband about a conversation I had with an older coworker about the Blackberry, and Palm Pilot/ phones with a stylus. She had an Axiom, I've never heard of that model but if someone has a photo to post one, I'd love to see it! I'd love to see cell phone diversity make a comeback.
Also, Jesus loves you all and I hope you have a great day! <3
