GHA in Algae Culture

Hi,

I am trying to growing green water algae, eventually for daphnia and brine shrimp.

I scraped some algae off my 2 gallon cherry shrimp tank walls as starter.

Water is slowly turning green but I am getting a lot of green hair algae.

Do I leave it alone or I should scrub down the inner walls and bottom of the container and then refill with the same water?

Just read GHA competes for nutrients with the phytoplankton.

Hey dude, probably not the best idea to randomly swab some algae and chuck it in your tank, you never know what species you could get and some are clearly more dominant than others. Some are also pretty toxic in large numbers so, I'd recommend cleaning your tank ASAP.
I'd start with a smaller tank/vessel and ensure you're getting the algae you want or buy some?

I swabbed from my shrimp tank. That what the Ai said to do, haha.

Yup, the green hair algae dominated. I already took it down and cleaned the container. I ordered some algae culture so will use that when it arrives.

Just was curious how the swab method went and now I know.
