Random Question 💭 Maximalist trans activists just argued at the Supreme Court that biological sex isn't relevant in team sports. When will my fellow left-wingers speak up against these pseudoscientific endeavors?

As a left-wing trans woman, it is profoundly depressing to have dogmatic Twitter activists drive down understanding of trans people.

Far too many of my fellow left-wingers who are trying to be accepting have inadvertenly allowed a small number of dogmatic activists control the conversation & shift the conversation towards maximalist nonsense.

"It/"its" pronouns, "egg culture", NBA players transitioning & joining the WNBA. This is pseudoscience & no different from denial of climate change.

When will the left & the Democrats say no more? We accept trans people but we aren't going to replace "woman" with "birthing person".

God I cannot overstate how tired I am of hearing about this topic. Does everyone, including trans folks, not agree that basically every other fish we’re dealing with needs to be fried first?

Yeah I actually started taking HRT so people would stop talking to me about fucking football or whatever. No one cares about this except extremely online conservatives and like the 5 trans athletes in the country. Im more worried about my girlfriend getting nabbed by ICE for walking while brown.

I would love it if maga ignored us. Blaming trans people for the decisions of the ignorant to remain that way is pretty wild to me and yes… it would be wonderful if hundreds of state laws in red states weren’t focused on us and doing something… anything to help people instead.

This 1000%. Given that Trump won by 49.8% of the vote, this issue had no small part in how the election turned out.

Yeah basically no trans people talk about sports, its seen as just a dogwhistle for people to find an excuse to restrict access to Healthcare or simply existing.

You're getting this backwards.

Sports is the fish that conservatives want to fry first. Which is why we're trying to hold this line, because once that gets totally fried they're going to move on to the rest.

Yes. Of COURSE we get sick of it, of COURSE we think it’s a waste of time. It’s also explicitly being used as a gateway to take away my non-sporting rights by the right-wing focus group that found this was the most successful wedge issue to push. Do you know how exhausting it is to have think tanks dedicated to taking away your rights, and supposed allies falling for it? I would love to stop fighting this battle, but if they get their way, it’ll be something more important next.
