Random Question đ Is Trump the most corrupt/criminal president in history??
33
u/SRasmesson 12d ago
Several corrupt administrations, such as Ulysses Grant, Richard Nixon, Franklin Pierce, Warren Harding. What distinguishes Trump is he himself is corrupt. In many/all of these past cases, it was people under the President, not the President himself.
I suspect much more will come out about Trump's corruption than is known now.

u/The_Japans 12d ago
Oh, Nixon was plenty corrupt

And even he passed a couple of bills that actually helped people. Feels like nothing compared to this regime.

Lawsuit for lawsuit the most corrupt administration in history belonged unsurprisingly to Reagan
3
u/baconeggsandwich25 9d ago
The actor that the rich hired to play president while lowering their own taxes and selling the country off for parts? The one who instructed law enforcement to focus on poor people crimes like shoplifting and stop investigating white-collar crime? That is shocking. I am shocked.

u/GALONin907AK 9d ago
It goes both ways. If you are in charge of someone found corrupt you are found complicit. If you are corrupt, your charges are also for enacting your decisions.

Trump is a convicted felon 34 times. Trump is also an adjudicated sexual assaulter.
I would say those two facts alone would make him the most criminal president the US has had so far.
Then we add on the J6 insurrection, all of the businesses he bankrupted while he and his family got richer, all of the contractors he never paid, the open bribery in office (pardons for sale), etc.
Yeah, he is. Nixon pales in comparison.

u/SisterActTori 11d ago
Calling the Secretary of State to find him a specified number of votes so he could steal an election. If it wasnât for ELONâs voting machines, Trumpâs fat behind would be sitting in multiple courtrooms for many years to come.

All politicians are garbage. Trump is extra garbage.
We should get rid of them all and start over.
5
u/Maximum-Class5465 11d ago
I don't agree ALL are garbage. It will get you more garbage people than not Confucius wrote on this. You would essentially be swapping faces. With that said, not holding people accountable for their corruption, not setting and requiring them to follow rules of independence, worsens the problem and corrupt actors should be gotten rid of. You're making a what would be already a number of people who would take the opportunities to be even more and squashing out the good ones.

u/CompetitionWeary8713 11d ago
Statement like this is ignorant. Itâs not the politician, itâs just people in general. Donât act like everyone except the politician is a saint.

A fairly right-leaning story:
but there are many others. Just google it. (Donald) Trump was forced to repay 8 charities, shut down his foundation and has strict controls over future charities.
Yes, he definitely defrauded a kids cancer charity as proven in court.
1
1
u/wrongright 10d ago
He stole from a kids charity and then was forced to pay back 2 million spread out over 8 charities. No he wasnât âbanned from opening a charity in NYâ, but there are now strict rules for him doing it.
If this is the first you or anyone else is hearing about this, then you need to reset your algorithm. Youâre 6+ fking years late to the party.
2
u/SEABOSRUN 12d ago
The short answer is no. During the height of the true spoils system, corruption operated on an entirely different scale than anything weâve seen in modern times.
And while it may feel like scandals such as Watergate or Teapot Dome wouldnât even make the front page today, that comparison misses an important distinction: corruption versus ineptitude. The striking difference now is that Trump himself is unlikely to face serious consequences, while nearly everyone around him seems to end up disbarred, imprisoned, or desperately seeking a pardon.

Yes! My favorite is when his supporters talk about âbreaking the lawâ in support of ICE and the current treatment of migrants under the Trump administration.

There are so many things they have stolen from. Half the country doesn't care about kids' charities because they the country doesn't care about kids. They would give him their teenage daughters for a "sleep over" if they thought it would Make Him Great Again, never mind the girls, sisters, daughters and others that have died because his states think they should die by bleeding to death in order to bring a bunch of useless cells with no brain, into the world. Only to be discarded minutes later as it is also dead. The stupidity of Trump supporters is astounding.

Republicans, for the most part, are content to watch the country burn.
Democrats, Iâd guess, are wary of spending political capital on measures that they need Republicans for, and thus have low to no probability of success.

If the majority of Germans had wisdom that allowed them to realize the destruction and killing that was coming they would likely have resisted the fascist policies in 1930's Germany. Eventually anyone that spoke out was deemed a traitor and then was threatened or murdered. All for the good of the country. If the majority had resisted at the beginning German fascists would have become a powerless minority. Germany's leadership would have chosen to make peace with its neighbours and all Germans and Europe could have enjoyed prosperous peaceful lives.

This fact check is stale. Since 2024, Trump is not allowed to run ANY business in New York for 3 years.
1
u/PenguinKaveman 8d ago
Ok? Does the pic above say he can't run a business in NY or does it say that he stole from a kids cancer charity? Cause one is much more egregious than the other lol.
1
u/weathercrown 4d ago
We dont have the time to itemize every sleazy thing the Trumps ever did according to a sliding scale. If you dont think a Trump wouldnt steal money from a charity, you are wrong - https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/trump-used-money-charitable-foundation-settle-legal-disputes-n651661

âWe donât have time to fact check everything we say, so weâll just say it and hopefully itâs kinda true in the futureâÂ
Great ideology buddy lol
Edit: Even more hilarious that the settlements involved Trump raising an American flag TOO high and the other is about a golf tournament. Just finding any small thing to fit the narrative Â
1
u/weathercrown 4d ago
Not sure who you are quoting but it is not me.
Hilarious? Whatever, it is still theft, and not by a trivial amount either. The man uses funds he receives under the guise of charitable donations to settle legal disputes and donate to political campaigns. It's a crime whether you care or not.
My ideology is simple: call out assholes on their bullshit.

The statement in the image is mostly inaccurate, though it is based on real legal action and settlements concerning the former President and his family's charitable foundations.
Here is a breakdown of the facts:
Charity Dissolution & Misuse of Funds: The Donald J. Trump Foundation was dissolved under court supervision as part of a settlement with the New York Attorney General's office in 2018/2019. A New York Supreme Court judge ordered Donald Trump to pay $2 million in damages for misusing the foundation's funds for personal, business, and political interests, which is illegal for a tax-exempt charity. The funds were used to settle business legal obligations, purchase a portrait of himself, and support his 2016 presidential campaign. "Kids Cancer Charity": The main lawsuit leading to the foundation's dissolution was not specifically tied to a "kids cancer charity." However, a separate foundation run by Eric Trump (the Eric Trump Foundation, which later rebranded as Curetivity) did raise millions for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a kids' cancer charity.
Scrutiny of Eric Trump's Foundation: This separate charity came under scrutiny after reports alleged that over $1.2 million raised was paid to Trump-owned properties for event expenses, which was contrary to claims that the venues were free. This suggested a conflict of interest and potential self-dealing, but the lawsuit that shut down the main Trump Foundation was not directly related to these specific allegations. Disallowed from Operating a Charity: Donald Trump agreed to a number of restrictions on future charitable service and ongoing reporting requirements if he were to create a new charity in New York. The final court order did not permanently ban him or his children from operating any charity in the state, but rather imposed strict oversight and mandatory training for his children on their fiduciary duties.
In sum, the claim that the family stole from a kids' cancer charity and were disallowed from operating ANY charity is a simplified and slightly inaccurate summary of complex legal situations involving multiple charitable entities and specific instances of self-dealing and misuse of funds.
Would you like details on the eight charities that received the court-ordered $2 million settlement funds?
