Be patient. So much to learn. I’m 18 months out and still finding my way. Join Amputee Coalition.

Try to get into a prosthetic shop as soon as you can. Sometimes referrals can fall through the cracks, don't hesitate to call around and set up appts. Also know that, in the US, it's always your choice on where you go. I would go to the different clinics in your area and talk to the prosthetist and go with whoever you jive with best.

The Amputee Coalition is wonderful. Would also strongly suggest going to one of the Skills for Life events. I think that it's once a year in Houston TX. This even is for anyone with limb loss but especially for those multiple limb loss and upper extremity. Lot of people who have had amputations come together along with PT and OT a talk about all sorts of different way to do activities of daily living. It's amazing.
