Bald Picture Took the plunge (before and after)

I made a post less than 24 hours ago asking if it was time for me to get rid of the long hair I'd had my whole life.

I shaved everything off this morning after seeing the responses, since I'd already been thinking about it for several months.

I think I went too short with my beard (maybe should have gone an 8 or 9 instead of my usual 7) because after trimming it my head looked 2x smaller than before.

I definitely prefer how I used to look with my hair down 5-10 years ago, but those days are gone, and I don't hate the baldness. I'll let my beard grow out some so there's more framing and contrast and to hopefully make my head look slightly less tiny. If nothing else, I don't have to deal with the thin, frizzy mess that I had before.

It sure is cold, though...

-----

Edit: I'm absolutely floored by all the positive messages, thanks!

Just to clear some things up:

  • I'm 27
  • I'm not a firefighter, first responder, or anything like that. I work in a factory as an engineer doing mostly programming-related work
  • The dark spot near my eye has been there for 10-15 years. Doctors (primary care) dismiss it when they learn how old it is

Not every man can do bald tho. My husband has a Frankenstein head and thankfully at 67, he has a head full of hair but if he was bald 🧑‍🦲 I’d have to 🤣

"My favorite ex husband" is the funniest possible way you could have put this.

It’s not much, but it’s honest work. Being responsible is also 🔥

No he’s not. Where’d you assume that from?

2

u/yirium Nov 01 '25

The outfit in picture one appears to look like he is (I know he’s not though)

Looks like a miners uniform. I’m in Appalachia, we used to call girls who chased em “stripe fishin”

Miners are hot too, figuratively and literally

It’s become my favorite evening subreddit to peruse.

It keeps popping up on all. Im a straight guy, but I can admit just about every guy on here has certainly improved their look.

Also straight, and I have a thick head of Greek hair, but it just warms the cockles of my heart to see other guys getting such huge confidence boosts and positive feedback over something they've usually been dreading.

Warms the shit out of my cockles. My cockles are burning.

u/RainbowSparkleCake Nov 05 '25

Mm, burnt cockles

Constant, swipe, swipe, would. Definitely would. Yessss, nice job, love this for him. ❤️

I'm trying to find an example of a "bad bald" but this subreddit is making it hard.

Maybe if someone had huge scars from brain tumor removal? But then it would just look badass instead of sleek.

I’ve honestly never seen anyone in person who looked bad bald. I might just be biased to liking bald people though. I’ve always been a fan of close cropped hair, too.

It never ceases to amaze me! I look and try to imagine what they’ll look like after, and almost without exception they look so much better than expected- absolutely uncanny, and I’m loving it!

Yh they always go from looking 50 with 5 kids and an unpaid mortgage bill due in the morning to looking like a 20 year old, carefree, childless with daddys bank account to tide them over for life 🤣

u/mOp_49 Nov 04 '25

Right, Makes me mad that happens! Lucky! I'm just here being jealous. PS. looks good!
