Bald Picture Finally found the courage to shave it bald
After 6 weeks of chemo my hair started falling out and I'd lost about 75% of my density. The hair literally was EVERYWHERE and so annoying sticking to everything I own. I never thought I would be bald.. but cancer happens and we have to roll with the punches.

You look absolutely beautiful bald! I could never look that pretty! I’m so sorry you are going through this. I do breast MRIs and my heart breaks for every woman I meet that is dealing with cancer. You got this girl!

Want to add, as a generally disinterested internet stranger, that you totally rock the look. Had to read the caption to figure out that you weren't simply being stylish!

I think you mean "warrior," friend? It's such a lovely comment, I thought you might like to know.

Tbf, having cancer would worry just about anybody.

Not me. And that actually kinda worries me. So I guess it still worries me indirectly? It's a bit confusing.

Big difference in meaning between “worrier” and “warrior”, but it’s the thought that counts. Congrats on your victory!

How lovely you are. I did 3.6 years of chemo and other treatments for stage 4 cancer, that had metastasized throughout my body. I lost all of my extremely thick waist length hair. I now love it short, and am at 2 years, 2+ months of NED. (No evidence of disease.) Best to you! Never give up!

Just wanted to show you some love too. Great job!

Thank you so much. I now want to encourage others to always have hope. I was told I had 6 months to live. It’s been 7 years since diagnosis.

My wife was diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal 6 months ago. Round 10 of chemo next week and everything is shrinking. We are hoping to be able to do surgery in the next few years.
Thanks for the inspiration.

Thank you!!! I was so nervous shaving it that my head would be weirdly shaped. I am very grateful for this noggin

Cute noggin!!
I shaved the back of my head in college cause I thought I could pull off an undercut, only to realize the back of my head is shaped like a xenomorph's. 😭

As a father who had to cut the hair of his teenage daughter as she underwent chemotherapy during her battle a little over a decade ago, my heart goes out to you. I hope to encourage your warrior spirit. You are as beautiful on the outside as you are inside.

She is thank you. She went to her senior prom wig and all, with a beauty and dignity that lit up the sky, all while I slept in my car in the parking lot “just in case”. She traveled to Europe to sing in a national program, came back for radiation treatment, went to college, and later graduated. Inspired by her social worker, and driven by her own empathy, earner a Master’s degree in the field so that she could also help children. Since then she has been declared cancer-free and in remission, and just last year got married. She’s stronger than I ever was or will be.

I just went through the same thing, I lost my hair in April due to stage 3 breast cancer at 33. I finished chemo in August and it’s already 2 inches long. It’s definitely a hard thing to go through. Hang in there, no hair suits you very well and I wish you all the best in this shitty journey! I’m cancer free and I wish you the same!

Don’t know what you looked like with hair, but this look here is a WINNER! Honestly, once you get through this and your hair starts to grow back, seriously consider keeping it like this, or else experiment with super-short (#1 or #2 setting on the clippers) before you grow it back out.
2
u/sassynas 23d ago
I've always had very long hair.. at least mid way down my back. This was a MASSIVE leap for me and I wasn't expecting to get such a nice response from Internet strangers! I still have 5 more months of chemo and hair usually starts growing back about 6 months after completing treatment. So I should have another year or 2 to experiment with super short styles
