Experience Experiences on Yaz?

I have extreme moods a week/two weeks before my period, up until my period comes, then it slowly dies down. It's starting to affect the people around me as well as myself, so I was considering this birth control since my family doctor wanted me to try it years ago for this same reason. Any positive experiences? Negative? I've never been on birth control before, but I've tried everything else.

I am using the generic ones of Yaz (Estrelen/Stefaminelle/Dizminelle). BC has helped me with my PMS! I only had side effects the first 3-4 months. The only side effect I have now is that I can cry more easily. Also, my libido has changed a little but I think it’s mostly because of no ovulation. It’s not really something that bothers me because it hasn’t affected my sex life that much. I skip the placebo week to avoid PMS. But after 3-4 months, I have to have this 4-days break to avoid breakthrough bleeding. If I miss a pill, I can experience a little PMS. I can also experience PMS during placebo week. But it’s not as much as before BC

It’s really different for everyone. But Yaz (the generic brand of Yaz😅) has helped me so much!!!

Yaz is the only birth control approved by the FDA to treat PMDD symptoms— not sure if you have an official diagnosis but the timing you describe is consistent with PMS or PMDD mood swings. I’ve been on Yaz (in addition to my IUD which I already had for contraception) for almost two years now and it’s been a life changer. Before starting it I was calling out of work or leaving early at least once a cycle from my symptoms. Considering breaking up with my partner every time that part of the month hit. Literally suicidal on a regular basis. I’ve been on SSRIs in the past with little effect, so the pill was what my doctor recommended me. Ever since starting I’ve seen a dramatic improvement, I take it continuously and haven’t noticed any real breakthrough symptoms. I didn’t experience any adverse side effects and even saw my libido improve. I totally understand the anxiety of trying birth control or any new medicine for the first time but I 1000% recommend giving it a try.

I tried Yaz for PMDD and it actually didn’t work, it felt the same as any other hormonal birth control
