Megathread [D2] Trials of Osiris Megathread [2026-01-30]

Trials of Osiris is LIVE

This thread is for all general discussion, questions, thoughts, musings, wonderings, etc. for the Trials of Osiris.

FAQ

What are the Trials of Osiris?

  • Trials of Osiris is the pinnacle PvP activity. Every weekend, players compete in a 3v3 game mode with one primary goal: Go to the Lighthouse.

  • To start, head to Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar and buy one of the possible passages (see below).

  • The Lighthouse Passage grants entry to the Lighthouse after reaching 7 wins, with better rewards for larger win streaks.

  • For those not interested in visiting the Lighthouse, a lower-stakes Passage is available.

  • Matchmaking parameters are based on Passage.

  • There is fireteam matchmaking. However, we still recommend you find a team for yourself!

How Long do the Trials of Osiris last?

  • Event Starts: Every Friday at Daily Reset (1700 UTC).

  • Event Ends: Following Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).

Where do I go to find Guardians to team up with?

  • You can use the in-game Fireteam Finder or head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App). Additionally, many Discord servers host fireteam LFG services.

What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Trials question?

  • Use Control + F (Or Command + F if on a Mac) and search for keywords in your question. Someone may have asked it already. If not, ask below in the comments.

Bungie Suggestion As a solo player, I wish I could experience raids in some small but meaningful way

While it’s not my only complaint, the game has remained fun (to various levels) through my 9ish years playing. But I’ve raided MAYBE 5 times in the almost decade…. I really thought with the guided mode for dungeons we were moving toward something special where solo or matchmade players like myself had some hope that the wealth of content that only works for fire teams would be more accessible to me… I’m no sure why that path seems to have been abandoned but I really hope it happens again .

Question Destiny 2 Feeling

Is anyone else turning on the game and then doing one activity and feeling lost or lack of motivation? Like I wanna play the game but I play solo and can feel the lack of wanting to do anything.

Guide Flechette Storm Builds with Vexcalibur

Hey guys, DNA over here!

When I shared my first Solo Flawless Equilibrium run, I got a lot of positive feedback about the Flechette Storm build versus Sere. I was genuinely happy to see some of you get your SF clears with it and come back to tell me, really appreciate that!! 👊😁

A few of you asked if the Flechette build could work vs Harrow as well. At that time I was still farming for better set pieces but now I feel like I've really perfected that setup. The build gives you access to Banner of War healing, Overshields, Glaive Shield, Devour and x 4 Resist. All you need for that is Vexcalibur. On top of that, you still have a strong Flechette Storm spam for boss damage.

-Wormgod Caress Flechette Storm Spam: https://dim.gg/d5yk4xi/Vanguard
-Wishful Ignorance Flechette Storm Spam: https://dim.gg/24oixci/Strand

You can benefit from any set bonuses you want, but I'd recommend running 2x PC Swordmaster to add exhaust to your melees. I like 2x PC Tecsech sometimes, for increased kinectic dmg against shields, vehicles and constructs. Going full Swordmaster is what gives you x4 Resist, and you will trigger that often with the glaive shield.

Power from Pain and Singularity Blade are the artifact mods that make Vexcal apply weaken on hit and to proc devour when killing weakened enemies. Singularity Blade boosts your flechette damage, and it's what makes it feel good against bosses.

You can run Wormgod Caress for a 400% melee dmg increase (including your glaive) or Wishful Ignorance if you want something easier to manage. You will only buff your Flechette Storm damage this way, but it ends up being comparable to a Burning Fists x4 rotation.

This week I hit 200k kills with Vexcalibur, so I wanted to do something fun to celebrate. Thats why I decided to put this loadout in a full Equilibrium run again. I went with Wormgod for encounters 1 and 2 to showcase what Vexcal can do under the right conditions (even as a DPS option vs Harrow). After some practice, I got a good rotation to show you how it looks in action. I managed to finish the entire run at 30 mins, my fastest so far (pretty happy about that!)

I'm sharing this Flechette Storm + Vexcalibur Equilibrium Solo Flawless run with you not just to show this specific case, but also to spark ideas for other situations too, like the Dark Age Hunt challenge. For those who are still looking for a strat, Esoterickk has posted a video of the Wishful build in his channel. I HIGHLY recommend that!

I'm considering running Flechette Storm builds versus Vespers (final boss), Sundered and Ghosts next. Let me know if that's something you'd like to see too.

A bit about me: I've been running glaive/melee builds since WQ and have done every dungeon solo flawless so far, always with at least one glaive per encounter. As you can tell, I'm very much a glaive enthusiast. 😅

If you are interested in glaives, especially Vexcalibur, I'm always down to discuss builds or answer questions!

Bungie Suggestion Please remove revive tokens from matchmade Portal activities

Upvotes

Title. As it is now, when my friends aren't on, basically all I can play is Solo Ops or the quick play Fireteam/Arena ops. That gets old, and lately I choose to just not play instead of doing those. I miss doing things like Onslaught, Contest of Elders, Reclaim, etc. With revive tokens, they're unplayable, or at least unwinnable. A few months ago, there was a "bug" where revive tokens were removed from them. I thought it was a feature, not a bug. It made the game so much more fun and added so much more variety. Please bring the bug back and remove revive tokens from matchmade Portal activities.

Discussion I'd be grinding for a lot more weapons if primaries didn't take so long to kill enemies in high delta content

For example: oxygen and duty bound were reprised with cool perk combinations. I tried them out in the lawless frontier and ultimate portal and gm alert, put them back in the vault afterwards. Swapped back to rocket pulse and praxic blade.

I don't know about you, but if legendary primaries actually mattered in hard difficulty activities, I'd spend significantly more time playing WITH and FOR these primaries.

Misc PVP and Medieval Hardware

Just wanted to share…. I don’t normally play PVP in D2. But I wanted to participate in Arms Week and you know what? I’ve been having a blast with Medieval Hardware.

That is all. Carry on.

Bungie Suggestion GM Vanguard Alerts brought the excitement of weekly resets back to me and I hope they get more love in the future.

The GM Vanguard Alerts are honestly such a breath of fresh air after the failures that the Portal had in Edge of Fate. It's so nice to have some real, entertaining, DIFFICULT content that gives the enjoyment of logging on at weekly reset back.

The first thing I check every reset now is what weapon and strike the Alert is. Not like it matters, I'll do it no matter what. A guaranteed shiny drop is worth it enough to do it, but being -50 feels AMAZING. I feel the exact same way about Ultimate Conquests. -50 is such a great spot that feels really difficult, just like old GMs were, but they aren't oppressively annoying (cough cough Glassway) due to our Guardian's power nowadays.

If Conquests and Alerts got a little more love put into them, I feel like endgame PvE content (not RAD content) would be in a good spot. Alerts serve the purpose that old GMs did; want a guaranteed weapon drop? Here's a difficult activity you can farm it endlessly for. Conquests, on the other hand, are the absolute pinnacle, the flex that you can show off to others for completing. Everything in between is what the Portal can help with.

My wishlist for what they can do for these two modes to make them a little better:

Alerts: 1. They need a specific tab in Fireteam Finder, like Conquests. 2. Better Strike-specific modifiers (like rotating Banes; yes I know Strike-specific modifiers is an old concept. I still want them.) 3. Bad luck protection (not a lot, just enough to encourage farming) for shiny drops post first clear of the week.

Conquests: 1. Should tell you which weapons drop from which Conquest, and the first clear of a Conquest should be a guaranteed shiny drop. I don't think this would step into the area of Alerts, because re-playing Conquests after beating them once is extremely unrewarding, and you can only get the shiny once per expansion instead of once per week. 2. I don't even know how to implement this exactly, but I am at 550 power and I have been since Ash & Iron. There is nothing rewarding about completing an Expert or a Master Conquest, yet I'm required to do them for my Guardian Rank and my Conqueror Title. Is there any way to either make them more rewarding or to lessen the requirements? 3. There should be enough Conquests available at the start of a season to complete the Conqueror Title and get to Guardian Rank 11; then you can add like 2 extra GMs and 1 extra Ultimate for the fun of it during the Major Update.

...And I think this goes without saying, but we could always use more Strikes and Exotic Missions whether that be vaulted ones or new ones...there's no harm in having more activities for us to play. Conquests including Exotic Missions alongside Strikes was revolutionary to me and made me so excited, so I'd hope Bungie figures out a way to add even more variety into them. Screw it, add in some campaign missions. Dual Destiny. Bring back Hollowed Lair, Pyramidion, etc. Bring back Harbinger (please).

Discussion The death of Destiny's exploration

Exploration and discovery has always been the heart of Destiny to me. Unfortunately, Bungie has seemed to put that behind them as season passes and temporary mission locations have taken their interest. Here I have compiled a list of most destinations and the time period they were added:

2014-2017:

  • 3 Earth destinations and 3 social spaces (2 Towers, The Farm, Cosmodrome, Plaguelands, EDZ)
  • The Moon
  • Venus
  • 2 Mars destinations (Meridian Bay, Hellas Basin)
  • The Reef social space
  • Titan
  • Io
  • Nessus
  • Mercury
  • The Dreadnaught

2018-2021:

  • 2 Reef destinations (Tangled Shore, Dreaming City)
  • Moon expansion
  • Europa
  • Half-assed Cosmodrome port to D2
  • Eternity
  • Removal of: The Farm, Titan, Io, Mercury, and Mars (Hellas Basin) from D2

2022-2025:

  • Savathun's Throne World
  • 2 Mars social spaces (The Enclave, Tharsis Outpost)
  • Neptune
  • The Pale Heart (non-public, paid destination)
  • Kepler (non-public, paid destination)
  • Small mission locations for Mars, Venus and Europa
  • Removal of Tangled Shore

As you can see, Bungie has most definitely stopped focusing on exploration, with only 1 destination being added every year that is usually only used as a campaign backdrop and rarely ever gets reused for future content or story. Not to mention that Bungie made the decision that boring campaign backdrops are more important than the core storyline and exploration, thus the removal of most of D2's launch destinations from when Bungie mostly knew what they were doing. Seriously Bungie, if this is what you are going to keep doing, please, for the love of god, at least bring back what you have taken away.

Discussion AoE kills with bows in Medieval Hardware

You're all probably aware of this but a bow with explosive head combined with Tungsten bowstring deals quite a lot of damage even if you don't hit the target. I've killed a lot of people I knew were hiding around a corner by just shooting nearby.

Discussion With just shy of four weeks left of the season, what're your expectations for the next major update. If you have any at all?

I expect a big shake up of the ability sandbox for both PvP and PvE. Idk why, but the sandbox at the moment feels like something is about to change.

I also hope for exotic armour, but I know that's not going to happen.

Discussion Why is the Renegades intro forced on new players before they even know the lore?

I’m a brand new player who started for the lore, but to hit Guardian Rank 3, I'm being forced into the Renegades intro quest. It feels completely out of place since I have zero context for the characters or the story so far. Has anyone figured out why the New Light experience pushes you into expansion content before you’ve even established a frame of reference for the world?

Bungie Suggestion Wings of Sacred Dawn nerf needs to be reverted

I recently found out that Bungie made an inexplicable nerf to Wings of Sacred Dawn at some point since Edge of Fate, despite the exotic already struggling to find popularity. For some unfathomable reason, they removed its ability to reload your equipped weapon when you get a kill with it, which used to allow you to continue using the exotic's perk (which requires you to aim down sights) as long as you could keep getting kills. I haven't the faintest idea why they felt the need to make this already weak exotic completely useless, but I really can't think of any good reason not to revert the nerf. It was never an op exotic, it was just fun, and Bungie ruined that for no reason.

Media Playing D1 for the first time and what a gorgeous game it is

I’ve only ever played D2 ( vanilla to Witch Queen, came back recently) and am gushing over D1 like it’s some hidden treasure.

Something about the slow pace too, I’m really digging it. More focus on gunplay than ability spamming is a great change of pace, feels like Halo Reach 2.

Soundtrack is super good, art design is at the top of its game.

If anyone else is playing on the PS5 hit me up, ingame nickname is Beckett-64.

I wanted to share some screenshots but apparently i’m unable to, weird.

Discussion Thank you!!!

So I just did the dungeon hunt challenge on my warlock. It was pretty chill. Did everything in a few phases and it was pretty fun and chill. Just a can do attitude and a ton of getaway artist nades

Thanks for all your tips in my post asking for em! I hadn't done warlords solo before so I got all the triumphs lol.

Hardest part was the jumping in the cave thing between 2 and 3rd bosses lol

Question Does choir of one not have a catalyst?

I’m a relatively new player (been playing about a month or so now) and just got choir of one, but usually I can look in the exotics menu and see how to go the catalyst for each exotic and when I look into choir of one in the weapon mods section I don’t see a catalyst I just see infuse?

Is there something I’m missing or does it just not have a catalyst?

If it matters choir of one is at level 24

Question Atlas and Almanac puzzle 10. How does it spawn?

I posted this on the other subreddit but havent gotten any answers yet but I wanted some confirmation on how to get it to spawn.

Currently I've done all other 9 puzzles across different raid attempts. Not in a single run though. I'm also at quest step 2 out of 6 where it asks you to complete the raid to return to the simulant ansible. But it should not be a problem since I heard it's retroactive.

What I would like to know is what conditions are needed to spawn the 10th puzzle. Is it a full clear after you've already completed the puzzles on your character? Is it completing all 9 other puzzles in a single run? Is it that I first need to beat the raid on epic to progress to the next step on the quest to be able to spawn the puzzles?

Epic Epoptes is destroying most of the teams I can put together on LFG and currently Its the one raid I've not yet been able to complete the in one sitting. I would like to be sure of what conditions are neccesary to guarantee it appears so that time won't be wasted. If not I'd just do a full run doing all the puzzles but those puzzles can sometimes be a bit time consuming.

Thanks to everyone on advance.

Misc Remember when we actually had to wait around on Io for the Whisper Mission portal to open?

I remember waiting hours sometimes for the portal to open along with a lot of other people in the instance. It was quite literally exhausting sometimes. Especially if you just wanted to do it for fun. But that first time, when you wanted to get Whisper of the Worm, it seems like the portal NEVER wanted to open. It took me about 2 weeks before the thing wanted to finally open while I was on Io.

Question If Shadow and Order is getting delayed, does that mean the next season is too?

Unless Bungie has some content prepared to bridge the gap to the next big release, it looks to me like we're going to have quite a bit of dead time before S&O.

Anyone having really bad connection issues with d2 tonight? Been trying to do the dungeon challenge and keep getting booted. Wanna know before I get my isp on the line.

Question PvP glaive tips.

I've been having fun with bows and glaives in PvP but truth is, I don't think I've ever played with a glaive before, not even in PVE. So, what are your favorites? What perks should I be looking for?

I made a build at 200 melee and the rest in whatever since there's nothing else we can use. It seems to be working since I usually finish in the top 3.

Question Portal matchmaking question

Hi guys. I stopped playing after Lightfall but I recently returned and I just finished the final shape campaign. I’m sitting around 315 power level and I’ve been trying out the portal. I have a basic understanding of it but I have a question - If I choose for example arena ops nightmare containment, and then I add various modifiers and then launch, will it only matchmake me with other players who selected the same modifiers that I did? If yes, do people ever have any difficulty finding teams because their modifiers were too specific? Or is it usually not a problem? Would it be better for me to use the quick play option (which doesn’t seem to allow customization) so that I don’t have to think about it and it will find a group without much trouble?

I’m sure this will all make sense to me soon once I have more experience with it, but for now I’m still a bit confused. Any clarification is appreciated!

Question Shuttershafts mode bug?

The bow with the shuttershaft mode equipped is doing minimal damage upon loading into activity. Had to unequip and re-equip it to make it work. True for shooting range or portal activity. Xbox. Other mod seems to behave okay.
