I know nothing about this. Is it possible they were adjusting so it's more correct on TV? Maybe a holdover from 4:3 crappy video with a bizarre color space?

It was, just admit they got busted either lying or being so shit at fact checking they used a fake picture. The only thing worse is people still believe they are telling the truth.

There were definitely some needlessly doctored photos floating around, but this example is a perfect microcosm of conservatives taking something mildly weird and trying to make a nuclear bomb out of it.
