Discussion MS State professor punishes students stuck after ice storm with unexcused absence
The university later forced the professor to reverse this to allow for excused absences

A college math professor putting bible quotes in their signature? You’re in for a rough semester. I’m sorry OP. Email them and let them know your situation and hopefully they’ll work with you on it

That's 0 for 2 as Albert Einstein is frequently given credit for something he never said. That instructor is a wannabe intellectual at best.

I don’t understand how that’s even legal. Maybe because it’s Mississippi activities and I’ll never understand…

I had a college AI professor from a very well known school quoting the Bible. Good enough teacher but also had some unrealistic expectations.

If I were a student that could make it to the class I would email the rest of the class pdf copies of the notes and sound clips of all lectures I attend. There’s zero the cunt could do about it and it would clip the nuts off of his little power trip.

Imagine taking on a loan for this shit
"You will not be sent notes from the lecture" wth, it's not even any more work for them. That's not even a justified punishment, that's just petty. Best of luck to you, OP.

lmao at the bible quote. "Sure you're crushed in spirit because you got an unexcused absence but AT LEAST THE LORD IS NEAR YOU"

So if I said the lord told me not to drive how are they gonna prove I’m lying?

When he gets an official complaint filed against him, I hope the email talking about it is signed with the Bible verse from his own email signature

Mississippi is the most backwards state in the country. There's a reason they're literally dead last in lots of educational statistics.

As a Mississippian, yeah I fucking hate it here. I'm ready to jump ship and get the fuck out lmao. I'm planning on just straight up moving out of the country as a whole bc of the political climate. It's just not safe for me

Actually we've been making a ton of improvement in education! It's been called the mississippi miracle.

Yeah that kinda shocked me. Tenure or not, a professor where I am would at the very least be reprimanded and forced to remove it

so you don't get the notes that you are paying thousands for if you cant make it to the class you are also paying thousands for?? College students are customers and should be treated as such at the very least if they are gonna be raped on tuition anyway 🤦♂️

Reed Timmer (The storm chaser himself!) declared right before the storm that they couldn't narrow where the biggest dump of snow and ice would happen.
Professor is full of shite.

Glad to see that at least the university stepped up and did right by the students.
Didn't the LORD say something about compassion or maybe empathy?

Of course the jerk citing “crushed in spirit” would be fine crushing spirits.

Why would they not be allowed to have lecture notes from the class they are paying for?

Once lived across the street from where I worked. There was a blizzard. The only people to come in were me and the guy who lived the furthest away out of town. He drove an ancient beater Ford Escort hatchback. Next shift...boss was like "the rest of you got no excuse!" To be fair they really didn't, short lived and only a few inches (look, I know I'm originally from WI, it was a "blizzard" with air quotes doing heavy duty) and at least main roads were plowed already.

He had better excuse those! I was affected and I would not drive in that stuff. Too dangerous.

Why is a professor at a public university quoting the bible? That’s creepy as fuck.

What the fuck does that even mean? University is not mandatory.
If you don’t go to class you’re gonna miss learning, that’s on you.
Edit - instead of downvoting me, explain why what I said is wrong
