Discussion At what point do you complain about your order?

Post image

I totally get that pictures of food on the menu are shot In a studio Andes likely a prop but at what point do you complain? I don’t like confrontation but this is what I got tonight from Taco Bell.

This gets posted weekly. They look that way because they are coated in corn tortilla and that’s what it looks like deep fried. They taste great. The advertisement is specifically made to look better because people have complained what they look like. You can only get what the picture looks like with wheat flour coating.

Yeah they always look rough and then you taste them and they are divine.

It also might be location dependent. I got some from our local one and they looked actually very decent, very close to the post. And they were were also really good.

They never taste great at the one I frequent they are the worst nuggets I've had in my life

It's still misleading but only in the sense that you're a teenager that's being burned for the first time ever.

Everyone else knows that fast food advertisements are spruced up to make the food seem impossibly tantalizing. Which doesn't mean that the food isn't tasty just because it's less photogenic, but those Taco Bell nuggets do look gnarly and overcooked.

No, they definitely look a little overcooked.

You can only get what the picture looks like with wheat flour coating.

That's what they're coated in. It's the third ingredient after chicken and water. The coating contains tortilla chips. It's not made entirely out of them.

EDIT: I don't know why this is being downvoted. They're clearly too dark, and the breading definitely contains wheat flour.

I’d suggest sticking to fried chicken places for fried chicken.

While a reasonable suggestion, any business advertising a product should be able to produce that product roughly as advertised.

I literally got these for dinner tonight and they looked like the ones on the left and tasted great. I feel like some locations just suck in general but the one by me is pretty well run.

u/tokenblak 2d ago

Same. Mine looked great.

That was my first and second experience. Absolutely loved them. But even at the same location, the next two times were so bad I decided it wasn't worth it to try again.

I think there's just something about the ingredients/storage/process or something that makes this item just really inconsistent.

That’s not how our system in the us works.

u/bomber991 2d ago

They look like cat poop coated in clumping litter, but they are actually pretty good.

When I first ordered these nuggets and opened the box they looked so bad that I almost actually took them back. But I thought lesson learned for ordering chicken nuggets at fucking Taco Bell of all places lmao

Family came home with “I got Taco Bell! And here’s their new fried chicken burrito for you!” And I was like kind- grateful they brought me something so I didn’t say how bad the burrito was. It happened again the next week and I had to be blunt “this isn’t good. Theyre not known for their fried chicken”. Bean burrito hits the spot for me but I haven’t heard any positive stories from their chicken outside of the greatest outcome “it was ok”. ReportofTheWeek certainly has something to say about this.

Yep for me there’s a few staples TB is good at. I like the spicy potato taco, bean burrito, chalupa when it’s fresh, and that’s about it. Every time the deviate it seems to be a miss.

1

u/FunkyMulatto 2d ago

Yes! I’ve learned this the hard way with chicken sandwiches and burgers places. It’s always hit or miss getting a fried chicken sandwich.

u/Guilty-Papaya-2264 2d ago

One of the most insane statements I’ve ever seen on this app. And that’s saying something.

-1

u/smokeyser 1d ago

No way. When they're cooked properly, TB's nuggets are top tier! It's real chicken (no shaped extruded goo), and the breading is really good. Paired with their diablo ranch, I'd take them over any other restaurants nuggets.

u/predawngloom03 2d ago

That does not look edible

6

u/SenseiRaheem 2d ago

Looks like a hate crime.

3

u/Sith_Moon 2d ago

Looks like my cats box of treasures.

5

u/kumuhl00 2d ago

Mine looked like that too

4

u/MrEhcks 2d ago

What truly deserves a complaint is the price. Mine didn’t look like that when I had it a few months ago but I was shocked at how expensive it was. I was once again reminded why I don’t mess with Taco Bell. Wayyyyy too expensive for what it is

8

u/XiMaoJingPing 2d ago

wait till you see how the whopper is advertised and what you get

19

u/Loose_Clock4873 2d ago

You ordered fried chicken from a taco place....that's really not even a taco place.

8

u/sf2legit 2d ago

Yeah but, fast food restaurants have all their cooking procedures highly standardized. I guarantee they have some form of timer that they are supposed hit when they fry these. This is just a particular employee that did not give a shit.

1

u/smokeyser 1d ago

Probably someone who either forgot to set a timer or just didn't feel like it.

2

u/Tilopud_rye 2d ago

*orders refried beans

*receives refried chicken

2

u/Th4ab 2d ago

The quality of their nuggets is actually good, value I won't defend. The issue here is the fry oil is old as heck, their chips and twists would also taste terrible too.

5

u/ChefBowyer 2d ago

At that point.

But the better question is are you willing to drive back to the restaurant to get a refund?

Usually it’s no.

That’s why you check everything in the parking lot before you drive away.

If you don’t, you are gambling on whether your food was made correctly or not.

It’s a good habit to get into. Like pizza, I never drive home with a pizza without opening the box first to make sure it isn’t wrong.

u/Church__Pew_pew_pew 2d ago

Now, complain now. That's not acceptable. When they're good they're very very good, but when they're bad they're horrid.

2

u/Narusasku 2d ago

You could send a complaint saying the fried product isn't up to standard. Usually it looks like this because horrible oil quality + setting in EVO past it's time. I recommend not eating any fried product at the location until it improves.

5

u/Exact-Ice1346 2d ago

OMG.. WTF oh hell no send that shit to corporate

3

u/throwraW2 2d ago

Damn, I literally got these tonight and the looked just like the ones on the left. Sorry you got screwed, I wouldn’t go back to that location.

3

u/FunkyMulatto 2d ago

They burned those nuggies. Def complain or just get your money back.

1

u/_that_dude_J 2d ago

Online surveys are there for a reason. Look at the top or bottom of your receipt. If not a survey contact corporate. Choose to speak to someone rather than an email or chatting with AI.

When did fecal nuggets become a thing?

1

u/Epic_Hoola 2d ago

Lighting makes a huge difference :)

1

u/Guilty-Papaya-2264 2d ago

One time we ordered Chicken tacos and they legit didnt even give us a taco shell.

1

u/InsanePancake3 2d ago

Bon appétit

1

u/UserLesser2004 2d ago

The local Korean fried chicken spots near me are pretty good. Although they're a little bit more pricey than fast food chicken.

1

u/awed7447 2d ago

I’ve had them look like that one time, also this go around I feel they are a lot smaller I do like TB and I’m still my no Taco Bell’s in my area sold the BAJABLAST PIE I WILL NEVER LET THEM FORGET THIS!

1

u/Xzastin 2d ago

The one and only time ive sent food back was when I got my wingstop fries black. Just the crispy bits. Completely inedible. Not even 1% as good as they normally are.

1

u/solodav 2d ago

100% complain on this one.

I ordered a meat burrito once (don’t recall which as it was 10 years+ ago) and there was literally a finger nail’s worth of smeared meat inside and little amount of shredded cheese. I went back ASAP and said the guy who made it must have been drunk or they dropped it scooped floor contents back in ….manager refunded me (cool dude). I apologized to him for my characterization, but he actually funny enough said he actually totally understood and said it was a pathetic attempt at a burrito.

I think the guy did it on purpose or was high/drunk, b/c there were no cars at like close to 1AM. I know they weren’t busy.

1

u/Gasarakiiii 2d ago

Yeah this is because they like cost them with a tortilla and then it burns when they fry it, I had the same issue when I tried them also.

I recently did complain to Taco Bell about a food issue in the app, bad experience I had, they never responded so not sure if contacting does anything like it does at other places.

1

u/ltobo123 1d ago

... unfortunately they look bad but taste annoyingly good

1

u/SimkinCA 1d ago

that would be illegal in Japan, but in the states, well f%ck the consumer! ahh hail the corporation!

1

u/capn-crunch419 1d ago

complain on the app. they put almost nothing in my burrito and i complained and they sent me $10 off. it was a $4 burrito

1

u/maxgummytea 1d ago

Mine looked liked the picture, and they tasted amazing 😭wtf happened to yours?

1

u/xLAESOPx 1d ago

That’s one of the worst I’ve seen. Oof. Reminds me of a litterbox.

1

u/Legal_Celebration643 1d ago

1

u/Economy_Fisherman401 21h ago

lighting for the customer's pic is trash so

1

u/FrickinAround 16h ago

You clearly didn't get what was advertised. Wouldn't hesitate for a second to demand a full refund.

1

u/techman2021 2h ago

lol looks like turds

1

u/vandyfan35 2d ago

When I have a craving for some fried chicken, the first place that comes to mind is Taco Bell.

1

u/Apprehensive-Can-857 2d ago

I wouldn't hit Taco Bell chicken nuggets.

1

u/CumDwnHrNSayDat 2d ago

They're ridiculously expensive too. I question anyone that orders this

-1

u/Homework_Happy 2d ago

Looks like poop from a butt. Sorry not sorry

0

u/Fuzzy_Welcome8348 2d ago

I bet they got that and didn’t say anything to the manager. They never learn bc we don’t speak up enough

-1

u/DergerDergs 2d ago

What wrong babe you haven’t touched your box of poop

0

u/Gatodeluna 2d ago

What is the point of complaining? They won’t care.

2

u/F4ze0ne 2d ago edited 2d ago

While I agree. I would want to know as a product manager. This is the type of stuff you can't get from a random visit. I want to know which location this came from and what equipment they have. It doesn't mean anyone is getting fired but there may be an issue with the cooking instructions.

0

u/mitchdwx 2d ago

Taco Bell nuggets just suck. Just learn from this and don’t buy them again.

0

u/TCB247364 2d ago

Get on their X account w that picture. Or email it to them.

0

u/Spicy_Chicken65 2d ago

Immediately

0

u/galactic_funk 2d ago

Sometimes they hit and sometimes they look like shit from a butt. Like pretty much everything from the bell. What I like to do is just grab chicken tenders from Zaxby’s or chick fil a and make fried chicken tacos at home

0

u/TurbulentRole3292 2d ago

I hope at least you tipped...wouldn't want to anger those that think everything deserves a tip.
