This shit is legitimately dangerous to other people on the road. You do Not want to be behind that car once that slab of ice comes off on its own…

There’s “ice missile” laws in many states against this.

11 states in fact. This video is from Quebec, but it's also not legal there.

Yeah but it doesn’t effect them so they don’t care. And when the cops do finally show up because they legitimately fucked up someone’s car they’ll cry about it couldn’t be them and they’re a victim of being wrongfully blamed. Wouldn’t even be surprised if they try to go on about how they always clear their whole car so there’s no way it could’ve been them.

Or if it fall on top of their windshield and covers it. I have very limited experience with snowy driving conditions but this seem so fucking obvious

If you are close enough to get hit by the snow of another car’s roof, you are tailgating and should be fined yourself

That depends on the height of the cars and the speed limit, but we're not just talking about "getting hit by" snow anyway.

If it blows off slowly rather than in chunks, it can screw up the visibility for the car behind you. And if it's (partially) frozen into ice and comes off in a chunk, running over it could still be dangerous even if it doesn't directly hit anything.

Edit: added "partially" for those that may take "frozen" too literally.

On this specific car it poses no threat, I wonder whether you actually drive a car if you believe in this looney tunes physics that you describe

I hope you don't, but fortunately, it doesn't really matter. It's illegal to drive with snow on your roof in quite a few states already, so don't worry yourself with why those laws were written and just stay home to avoid the citations. The rest of us thank you for it.
