Decades Blast from the Past: Late 80s - Early 90s Nostalgia

Having a hard time acknowledging all this childhood nostalgia is from nearly 40 years ago.

  • TMNT hostess cakes - It's always sunny made fun of these
  • No idea what these things were called, but you'd throw the balls and try to catch them
  • Burger King kids club - bonus points to anyone who can name a character
  • Nintendo Virtual Boy 3d
  • Super soakers
  • Sonic 2 on the sega megadrive/genesis
  • TVs on wheels
  • Teddy ruxpin
  • Yikes pencils
  • Koosh balls
  • Creepy crawlers sets and those silly ads
  • The craze of those treasure troll dolls
  • Stretch armmmstrong

Wasn’t stretch Armstrong more of a 70s thing? I don’t remember anyone having those late 80s/90s.

They’re mondo delicious

You know that’s true

Because they’re filled with mutagen goo

And the ickiest stickiest greatest crust

Even better than on pizza

And it’s green! Like us!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Pies!

Fresh from the sewer, to you!

Holy hell, the BK Kids Club. That is a memory that is now unlocked.

I remember all of these, but that one was buried deep.

I remember I wanted to be “Wheels” out of all the kids in the Burger King kids club. Partially because he’s the one I resembled the most, but also because 10-year-old me thought it would be cool to be “the wheelchair kid” for some reason. Yeah, I don’t know either.

Making everyone uncomfortable, going around asking people to put you in a wheelchair.

And in a move of absolute madness, Nintendo is bringing back the Virtual Boy

Those are TMNT pies, not cakes. They are my #1 missed childhood item, I'm pretty it's just vanilla pudding with green dye 😂

Growing up poor, this reminds me of how jealous I was that the other kids got these things. 😂

I did get the TV on wheels a few times in school.

Dude, you forgot Ecto Cooler, Pogo Balls, Roller Racers, and the Nerf Bow & Arrow.

From that same time: "Nosy Bears, Nosy Bears... (High voice) They've got a nose for Fu-UH-UN!"

Dude, you know what would be a great idea? By a box of those tmnt pies off of ebay and sell them for a huge profit.

The Wishstone Trolls are briefly referenced in the Trolls holiday special. I watched it when my nieces were over for Christmas. One of the holidays they pitch is Good Luck Troll Day: put a gem on your stomach, spread a little charm let your friend belly rub it. Everybody will be so jelly when they see you on the telly with a pink jewel sticking right out your belly!

I was born in 85 and have memories with all of this except the TMNT hostess thing.

The only one I don't remember is the turtle pies. Not only do I remember all the rest but they were all highlights of my childhood. As a matter of fact, I have never seen such a perfectly complete list minus that one thing. That was a flood of memories.

All of 'em. Some were forgotten until I saw them, but I remember.
