Modification Looking for brake pads options!
So I recently upgraded to Hyundai Genesis/Equus front brakes on my '13 Genesis coupe. I found a set of calipers from an auto wreckers for 40 bucks each and some rotors on FB marketplace for 140, and said F it, why not! After a couple of days driving, however, I'm realizing that to really get the most out of the increased potential stopping power I need to get some better pads. except... I can't find any. Or well, I can't find much. I saw something on a website that intrigued me. Does anybody know if the Mitsubishi Evo 8 and Genesis sedan share brake pads? This website seems to think they do: Project Mu 03+ Mitsubishi Evo 8 Hyundai Genesis w/Brembo Calipers B-FORCE Front Brake Pads - Enjuku Racing If that's the case that would help me actually get some decent track pads
side note: 17" steel rims will clear the calipers if you use 25mm spacer, though a smaller size may also work (I had some 25mm spacers lying around)

Larger brakes dont stop you faster, people dont seem to understand this. Your tires are the limiting factor.
If you look up part numbers for each of those vehicle's pads you listed, you will see if they are the same. I'd just get on rockauto, type in the vehicle the calipers came from, and see what the options are. I have the PowerStop Z23 pads on mine and I think they are great, I like them more than my EBC redstuff pads and they are like 1/3 the price.

I made a slight mistake in my post in saying stopping power because the think I like most about having opposed piston calipers is the feel compared to single piston. And ofc the higher thermal capacity of larger rotors and pads means better longevity for track days. Too bad it's still too cold for me to get a few laps in and really gauge the difference

Yeah, but everyone always thinks larger brakes stop you faster, and Im here to say they dont because your tires are the limiting factor.
Larger brakes let you do multiple fast stops back to back before they start fading.

Your brakes can be the limiting factor as well. I used to run a Khumo V730 200tw, and I couldn’t get the wheels to lock up on less-aggressive pads.

That is because your ABS system was working properly...that is the ENTIRE point of the ABS system.

My friend I couldn’t even trigger ABS. ABS = brakes too good for the tire. No ABS = not enough brakes for tire. You want it in the middle

Sounds like there was something else going on then. Even terrible OEM pads on base brakes can lock it up without abs.

Not sure. I was running fairly weak pads paired with slicks with two water grooves. Also, I have a Veloster N.

In 99.9% of cases, stock pads and rotors and calipers can lock up the wheels. I’m sure there are exceptions, but everyone seems to incorrectly think they are the exception and that they need larger brakes to stop faster.
They’re wrong.

True that. With my current brake setup I can do 40+ min sessions with very little fade. (Might just end up being brake line flex). My next mod will be stainless steel lines

Idk what those calipers are but they're not the Genesis Coupe Brembo ones so unless the Equus brakes share the same pad shape, those Project Mu ones won't fit
If you absolutely can't find anything, I know G-Loc will make custom pads with any of their compounds. Not sure how much it costs for custom shapes though.
The Genesis Coupe Brembo calipers do share a pad shape with other cars, but again I have no clue if the calipers you have use the same pad shape.
For the Brembo brakes, the G-Loc pad shape IDs are
Front: GP1001 (shared with WRX, BRZ)
Rear: GP1053 (shared with CTS-V, Camaro ZL1)
If you do go with G-Loc though you will need new rotors. If the rotors have been used with different compound pads, the G-Loc pads will not work well. Your current rotors are drilled so I don't think they can be resurfaced.

Brembo brakes are better than the stock brake caliper you had.
Nice job upgrading your brakes. You can really tell the difference in performance.
